I always see threads for advertisements but what about actual articles?

I used to be a video game journalist. The reason why none of it's worth reading is because it's the most corrupt profession in the world.

Gaming magazines are more than just pictures, reviews, and ads. They have actual articles in them

It's not a really difficult to understand concept.

Would you mind sharing because I'm interested in hearing.

I was a games journalist too for 3 years. There is paying for good reviews, but I could bash the games that didn't pay (90% of them) all I wanted. People raged at me the most when I gave the PSP Kingdom Hearts a bad review.

I like the official art here, even if it's in Japanese

I disagree. I have read a lot of interesting stuff in old magazines. At worst this thread count be funny to see outdated or incorrect contemporary opinions.

What's the best way of scanning magazines without damaging them?

>Without damaging
You get to pick one, scan quality or material safety. Otherwise just scan them and hope for the best.

I too was a vidya journo for one year. My boss basically told me to copy stuff from IGN and press releases for preview articles since the magazine I worked for didn't get a chance to actually try the game. No manipulation of my review scores, though sometimes they removed or altered some things I said. The one I remember the best is my sarcastic "yay, breasts" comment that got changed into enthusiasm.

I have this magazine from 2000 - 2002 where a guy says he's not hardcore because he likes Spyro. It makes the generation difference noticeable. People who were 20 to 30 during the late 90s don't care for Spyro or Pokemon but now the kids of yesterday are the new 'main' demographic of gaming so we love those series.
