His name defaults to Remeer, right?

I'm currently playing Lufia (the first one) and had a hard time trying to think of a name for the hero. He has no canon name at all, so in the end I just named him Jeros, even if they are not the same character (they are both Maxim's descendants, so, close enough).

I generally use default or canon names as long as I know them, but some of my favorite unique names are...

Male:
Hawkson
Gren
Kronzer/Kron (big round 'O')
Bandar
Temm/Temmech/Tomach
Jiku
Zyym

Female:
Bandi/Bandari
Guandarri
Alliath
Gala
Elna/Elnakai
Mrameg/Mram
Emerald/Emer

They're mostly taken from my own homebrew D&D/fantasy campaigns.

Pic unrelated, I've just wanted to repost it and haven't had a reason to in a while.

Ordinarily no if the characters already have names. But if they do I'd try to make up names that match what they look like.

In the case of Earthbound Zero I try to name them with a Nintendo naming scheme like Ninten's. So I'd name the girl "Fami" after Famicom, the genius "Gambeyo" after Game Boy, and the gang leader I kind of have difficulty with.

Interesting. You know, I didn't put that much thought into the Game and Watch because it's synonymous mister in "Mr. Game and Watch." But now thinking of the Game and Watch I think I might just name him "G.W." It could mean anything but it is my reference to the Game and Watch. But I also wanted to give him an Italian ancestry and from what I've just gone through researching is that no Italian surnames begin with the letter "W."

I guess he could also pass for Irish. Like Gregory Walsh or something.

Also to my point of not giving him "Mr." in the name is because I'd figure that would be something he wouldn't want to identify himself as. Like that's his father's name.

This seems like a good thread to ask; I'm unable to name my character in FF Legend 1 (also the first SaGa game). There's no default (if you try to force a default it just leaves your character name blank and that's no fun), and the concept art, while I think it looks pretty cool, doesn't really cause a name to spring to mind. Any suggestions? I can only use four letters.

>> No.2502752

Depends on the game. If it's a story-based game where the MC is an actual character, he's default. If it's a game with a create-a-character, well, I used to struggle with names a lot, but thanks to an internet moniker I'm used to now, "Blue" is nice and easy.

And naming party members and such? They're always default/canon. Pokemon? No, no nicknames. Ever.

>> No.2504284

>>2504248
I couldn't make myself finish FF2 either, honestly.

I haven't played the game long enough to fully understand it, but from what I've gotten, there are three classes, and all of them progress non-traditionally.

Humans can wield the most equipment at once, and only gain stats by purchasing items and using them. You can gain strength, agility, and HP that way (defense you can only raise with armor).

Mutants (or Espers) gain stats after every battle. You apparently have a higher chance of gaining stats based on how you perform in battle, like in FF2, but unlike FF2 you have a chance of gaining points in any stat every battle regardless of what you do. You also gain/lose spells at random after battles.

Monsters have a whole heap of different types. When you defeat an enemy, they'll sometimes drop meat, and if you choose to feed that meat to your monster, they'll transform into another monster based on the type of monster you currently have and the type of enemy you defeated. Apparently it's the hardest class to use without a guide.

You can mix and match your party however you want, so you could go four humans or four mutants or a mix of classes depending on what type of leveling you're okay with, plus being able to retire and recruit new party members if your current party isn't doing it for you. I'm going with two humans, one mutant, and one monster, to try to experience all the classes. Again, I might have a fact wrong somewhere since I haven't been playing the game long.
