Well since you look like a Nintendo fag, play some Genesis shit, Rocket Knight, Ristar, Pulseman, Sanic all that stuff.

>> No.2496191

>>2496186
Oh, I've played Pulseman, I didn't like Rocket Knight, and I enjoy Sonic 1 and 3. There's also some run and gun games I like that are of SEGA, but I can't remember their names.

>>2496179

That list is rather general, OP. I mean, it's entirely first-party titles, and only the highest-selling games from those consoles.

Are you familiar with any series outside of Mario or Pokemon?

>> No.2496202

>>2496194
Not really, I like StarFox too, and in other consoles I like Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Metal Gear Solid and some Sonic games. Some more recent games I like are Yakuza, Disgaea, Devil May Cry and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spin-offs.

>>2496179
azure dreams
metal slug x
dragon quest v
starfox 2
ikaruga
r-type

>> No.2496227

>>2496210
Oh, I've played and liked Ikaruga, MSX and SF2, but the rest seem interesting, what version of the other games should I play? The most recent one or the oldest one and then the newer one?

>> No.2496274

>>2496227
azure dreams - ps1
r-type your choice but r-type delta is well regarded.
dragon quest v there's the trans for snes and the ds version i've only played the trans

Thanks a lot! More recs are welcome as well.

the genesis may have been the technologically superior machine but all the best games were on the SNES because it had a higher market share and the best devs flocked to it. if you're not wearing nostalgia glasses the genesis library is comparatively weak.

>> No.2496423

>>2496406
also the mega drive never really took off in japan

Nigga you serious?
It's no secret Genesis lost hard in the RPG department, but if we are talking about action or any other gender Genesis won.

>SOR had sprite economy and the screen was always clean yet full of action, Final Fight don't
>Columns, Puyo puyo, and other cool exclusives for puzzles.
>Gunstars and Alien Soldier for action.
>Grind Stormer, Veritex, Gaiares, Thunderforce series.
>Flashback, Bonanza bros, Herzog Zwei, Ranger X.

Multiplats were often better in the SNES but not every time, Earthworm Jim & 2 Are a good example.
Megadrive/genesis library is bigger, it's just that many of their games are pretty obscure

>> No.2496772

Terranigma is one of the most incredible experiences you can get from a /vr/-approved game and everyone should play it.

>> No.2496785

>>2496668
This. Only thing SNES had over sega was the RPG department, even most of multiplats were better(or atleast the ones I've played)

Some more genesis games, more obscure ones.
>Cyborg Justice
SOR except with customizable robots.
>Road Rash 1,2,3
Motorbikes, punching, chains and batons, racing.
>Micro Machines
Like Rock n Roll Racing without rock n roll.
>Outrun 2019
Good soundtrack, relaxing gameplay, pretty good overall, smooth too.
>Dinosaurs for hire
Contra but dinosaurs.
>Mutant League Hockey
NHL 94' + new violent mechanics.
Many, many others.

>> No.2496910

>>2496785
which is why in the UK where most SNES RPGs never saw PAL releases the Megadrive sold much better.

>> No.2496972

Heres some of my favs.
Umihara kawase
Gunstar heroes
Monster world IV
Sin and punishment
Castlevania SOTN

Gimme some shit to play please.

Also OP you would probably like these:
Little Samson - NES
Quintet trilogy - SNES
Mischief makers - N64

I need a turn based rpg where I make my own party. That's the only requirement, it can be as bare-bones as necessary.

I was gonna play pic related, but could only get the remake working on my phone and I hate it's aesthetic.

Baseball, pinball, basketball if you had the 4 player multi-tap, wrestling, fighters, beat 'em ups, fishing (not that anyone cares), simulation, strategy, and puzzle games were pretty solidly superior on SNES. And that's without getting into Japanese shit. And racers were superior for multiplayer. Only racing games Genesis had that were worth mentioning were Road Rash. Genesis really only beat SNES on side-scrolling action, shmups, and most sports especially golf, tennis, and football.

>> No.2498456

>>2498454
And it was at best tied for platformers.

>> No.2498479

>>2498367
Make your own party in what sense? From a status/attack perspective, there are quite a few turn-based RPGs to choose from. Any game with a job system(DQIII, FFV) is pretty good about letting you make a character, however there are other games with more in-depth management where either you can directly affect stats through an in-game system(FFVI, FFVIII), or allow you to create characters with a wide range of talents through an Elder Scrolls-esque system(FFII, Romancing SaGa).

As for creating a party in terms of character and stories, I'm not sure there are too many, most JRPGs have you manage a set cast of characters in whatever way you see fit.

Final Fantasy 1, any Wizardry (SNES versions are the best).

Please don't just list names. Recommendations are more than simple name dropping. Say what the game is, why it's recommended, maybe post a screenshot
