why do people call the ps1 a PSX, this is a PSX

IIRC, I had a cheat book that labeled the PS1 as "PSX" and I saw it used in a few other places

Personally, I either say "PS1" or "PlayStation"

The PSX was only successful because Sony stole technology from Nintendo. The system was originally supposed to be called Play Station X, that's where the X comes from. OP's picture is an early prototype.
