Time and time again have I given OC Remix a try. It got to the point where I gave up on them because none of the songs retained enough element of the song they're covering. All they have are techno songs with some vague semblance of the original song.

The FF6 album was pretty good, but anything I've found is trash.

Another great example of not-techno, although it is for one of the biggest Mary Sues in Squeenix's history.

Take something that sounds awesome, ruin it with 8-bit and dubstep, shit it out on OCR. Did I miss any steps?

>> No.2494516

There is plenty of shit, but also some really good stuff. But, people always likes to focus on the bad part.

Honestly, it's a nice change from turn everything into piano and strings, slow it all down to shit and make it 'epic' and boring as fuck taking 3 minutes to build to a head that should have been the entire fucking song.

Aaaand that's about it for me. Admittedly it's been a long while since I've browsed there, I never really got into the site as a whole for reasons >>2491369 already posted. I think NicoNico has far superior covers for retro games, especially since I can find ones for games that often get ignored by the OCR guys.

Mazedude.
He has just the right amount of deviation from the original tracks to sound original whole still being the same track.
His Doom tracks are my favourite by far.

Haven't been on OCremix in like ten years but what I remember from it is that a lot of tracks were three minutes of build-up leading to nothing and then it ended. A lot of stuff only vaguely resembled the original tracks. I'm sure there's some good stuff out there but a lot of it was a waste of time.

>>2494765
They got David Wise and Grant Kirkhope on here if I'm not mistaken, which I thought was pretty damn cool.

Literally anything by jake kaufman.

All his music is inspired by catchy retro shit, and he composes for wayforward and various indie projects, and I've yet to come across any of his music that is not good.
