Can we PLEASE end this "HD textures" horseshit now? All the fan enhancements for 3D games have been pure shit for now. Amateurs throwing something together in photoshop that completely clashes with the game's art style and models.

Not retro

Remakes, ports are /vr/. I don't know this is a meme, or whatever, but people keep getting this part confused.

I wonder if 3DS emulation will go a similar path of N64 emulation and only attempt to emulate the most wanted games, while the lesser known games with lesser known programming tricks/errors are non functional. For example, isn't TWEWY 64 one of the few games that benefits from an inaccurate emulator?

>Super Mario DS
>Perfect Dark XBLA
>GoldenEye 007 XBLA
>Star Fox 64 3D
>Diddy Kong Racing DS
>Wii/WiiU Virtual Console

If 360 emulation gets better, and someone leaks GolenEye 007 XBLA then there would be NO reason to ever own an N64.

N64 is a complete clusterfuck of a console. N64, Saturn and PS2 are some of the most obtuse complex consoles ever created.

3DS is more complex than it needs to be, but it's much more straight forward. DS as well.

>>2482102

There were also some Xbox original ports/remakes, but Xbox emulation is nonexistant.

Funny you mention that, the N64 and PS2 do share a few things in common. Some of the PS2's biggest developers made games for the N64, such as DMA Design (now known as Rockstar North) and Suckerpunch. Difference is that the PS2 was a resounding success, the N64 made Nintendo lose their traction in the home console market.

The World Ends With You. Another Bond game, this time by EA and I believe Eurocom.

Xbox is so cheap and easy to mod that emulation isn't really necessary.

>3DS emulators can now run Ocarina of time 3DS at near full speed now
They can run it, *without sound*, at a barely playable pace -- a pace slow enough to deter you from playing at all

Oh yeah, and these are the specs:
>CPU - Intel Core i7 3770K @ 4.20 Ghz
>RAM - 16 GB
>GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 100ME
>OS - Windows 7 64bit
A setup most people do not have, and it doesn't even play with sound, it's only playing one screen, and it suffers massive slowdown while occasionally managing full speed and only for *one single game*. A popular game, yes, but it's a game that is already playable on 2 other consoles.

I want 3DS emulators pretty dang bad, but this is pretty far off from actually happening. How long until the emulator can play sound, both screens, and at 100% speed on? How long until it can do that on a computer setup that isn't the machine that OP's video has? How long until it can run even one other game at the snail's pace shown in OP's video?

It's an accomplishment and I'm in now way shitting on the guy doing god's work, but 3DS emulators are really anywhere near happening bro

Anon i hope you understand that the emulator has no optimization, like at all.
2 years and we will have a DECENT emulator, as of now it's pretty much experimental, the 3DS doesn't need such a beast to be emulated.

>> No.2482227

>>2482207

Oh wow, you're right.

A combo of Xenia, Dolphin, Citra, Desmume could play all the worthwhile N64 games.

It's gotten an OpenGL renderer. I don't know if ti has a dynarec though. A dynarec would speed things up so much.

>Anon i hope you understand
I do

I'm trying to explain to OP and anyone else who might take OP's word as law that his opening statement is egregiously incorrect and has very little to do with the body of his post. They are so disconnected that I'm actually inclined to believe that his post is to announce the emulator's nascent performance rather than to bitch about muh HD textures that no one is forcing him to use or enjoy

>> No.2482239

>>2482229
What kind of specs do I need to run Citra?

Citra currently uses an interpreter to emulate the 3DS's CPU, as well as a software renderer for the GPU. As one might imagine, this is very inefficient, so it is doubtful that most (if any!) consumer hardware would be fast enough to run at full-speed.

In short, there's no real recommended hardware, but suffice it to say that you want the fastest possible processor, and a graphics chip that supports at least OpenGL 3.2.

Shit i guess why it needs a monster PC to run.

>> No.2482260

I think OP's point wasn't to discuss 3DS emulation, but how fan-made texture packs for OOT pale in comparision to work made by actual professionals like Grezzo.

>> No.2482262

>>2482260

Exactly.

Maybe I should have made some comparison screenshots or something.

The "HD Texture Packs" that people use on N64 emulators are pure amateur hour trash. The Official N64 remakes completely blow them out of the water.

>> No.2482264

Majora's Mask 3D fucked the save system so hard. It's like they didn't understand the game at all.
