>playing this game on N64 emulator
>using XBOX 360 Afterglow controller
>C-pad buttons mapped to right analog stick
>move forward and backward okay
>C left/C right just strafe sideways
>have to use left analog stick to turn
>this freezes you in place if you accidentally turn the analog stick wrong
>most of the time I'm just fumbling around like a damn drunk

Is there a way to properly map my controller for Turok? How did we ever play this game?

>> No.2477031

you play the pc version, but the map won't work so you'll need a 3dfx card wrapper or something. the full iso from isozone has the thing preconfigured.

Map the C-buttons to XYAB. Always do it this way for N64 shooters. Use the triggers for the N64's A/B/Z/R.

This would probably be your best bet. I've personally never had much luck mapping non-anolog functions to anolog sticks.

PC Emulator. You need to install Win98 in it however.

This is my setup:

>RetroArch - M64+
>core specific input turned on
>automatically load remap files
>DS3
>Setup as pictured (the rest is obvious)
>Goldeneye, Perfect Dark set to 1.2
> Left is look around, right is move forward/back or strafe left/right
>Auto-aim- off

Works very well. Feels like a modern console shooter.

...why not just play the PC version?

PC version has auto aim and is a straight port of the game. the game is very archaic and console-ish regardless of how you play it.

II on PC makes sense.

You can disable the autoaim...

or am I confusing it with 2.

short of an actually using an N64 controller, with and adapter or some sort of USB knockoff, I find that the duke controller works fairly well for N64 games or other 6 button consoles. Provided you can actually fit these fat pieces of shit in your hands
