What are the best emulators to use on a Wii? I'm looking to emulate Sega CD and Nintendo 64. I already have GB/GBC/GBA (VbaGX), SNES (snes9xgx), and NES (fceugx). Are there any good N64 and Sega CD emulators? I know there is another thread about this but their isn't much activity.

NIN64 emulation is pretty shit.
Gen Plus GX or whatever will emulate all sega console upto sega CD/32x

OP, use Genesis Plus GX for Sega CD, and Not64 for N64 as well as the virtual console for the 23 or so N64 games that were on there. You should be able to play a good chunk of the N64 library decently.

But it can do 240p. You just need to use the shitty ancient VGA ports and the right configuration. If you're autistic enough to actually want this kind of "perfect CRT setup" except without the actual consoles, then do it properly. No need to fuck around with some stupid Wii crap setup.

Thing is there's no actual reason you shouldn't be upscaling the output of your emulator and your graphics card is gonna do it better than your TV as well as any shitty VGA box you can get your hands on.

>buy this third party device

You can do it with regular video cards too, but only god knows how autistic you people are with your kilohertz.

>dirt cheap Wii

It's shit. It requires stupid ass hackery just to run the shit you want, special patches to the emulators themselves just to get them to a runnable state due to the absolutely fucking shit hardware, and you're still limited to early systems.

You are aware that there are other benefits to emulating on a Wii. Such as, you know, being able to play Wii and Gamecube games on it. I don't emulate anything other than NES on mine, and it was still well worth it.

Except it isn't, actual 240p on PCs required older video cards and some hacked video drivers on Windows XP or alternatively some you need to compile some drivers on Linux that again only work on specific cards. You must not know very much about this despite speaking like you know it. Compared to just putting an emulator on your Wii and then changing one setting for 240p.

>It's shit. It requires stupid ass hackery just to run the shit you want, special patches to the emulators themselves just to get them to a runnable state due to the absolutely fucking shit hardware, and you're still limited to early systems.
Except I've been able to play quite a few late 90's arcade games perfectly on it. Some of them even with an actual rewind feature. You must be confused about what it can and can't do.

No, you need a specialized setup for this. VGA will line double 240p and output it at 480 lines.

I emulate everything up to the PS1 and N64 on my Wii. It's amazing, and there's no fucking way I'd go through the trouble of figuring out how to output 240p from my PC to a CRT when the Wii is so fucking simple.

Plus the Wii is right there next to my Trinitron and I can just sit back on the couch and comfortably play Contra with some bros.

It's pretty much amazing and I love it.

Years ago the Wii used to piss me off with the unstable and rarely updated GX emulators but the Retroarch stuff is pretty much perfection - very accurate, very stable and regularly maintained. Hook it all up to a nice front-end like Wiiflow or Postloader and it's a very bro-friendly setup.

Ok here is my deal.

I have alot of old consoles from my childhood but I also use emulators. I prefer the actual console and games but it is just too expensive to own everything I want to play and emulating is almost the same. Mainly I play NES and SNES but also SEGA, GB and GBA. I bought a logitech rumble pad 2 controller at the flea market for 1 dollar and it does the job. I don't use any fancy setup for either the consoles or emulating. (I don't even have an hdmi tv, just monitor) So here it is, my neighbor gave me a Nintendo Wii but it only has a power cable, no av or controllers. Also I know Nothing about the Wii, I have played it before but gamecube was the last Nintendo I owned. I know I can use my GC controllers for certain games that don't use the motion sensor. My question is, What is the simplest, and cheapest way to play on this Wii my neighbor gave me. Emulating NES and SNES would be just fine. I have no wii games but I do have GC games and controllers. As I said no AV cable so ill buy one off amazon it'll be like 10 bucks. Had alot of illness and family problems so i havent even googled it yet just saw the thread and it reminded me about the wii she gave me. Thought someone might throw some simple knowledge my way since you guys know all about this stuff. Thanks.

Tl:dr Got a free wii and don't wanna pay alot to setup and play some old nes and snes on it.

Since some peole is talking about pc, yesterday a friend of mine gifted me an old AS B202, the specifications are:

Processor: Intel Atom N270 (1.6 GHz, FSB 533)

Memory: DDRII 1 GB

Storage: 160 GB

Chipset: 945GSE + ICH7M

VGA: On-board Intel GMA 950

I already installed nestopia undead and snes9x and everything seems working pretty well, do you think the machine is valid for those emulators at least ?
