So, what is the best version of this game?

Dreamcast

I was playing it from a burned disc. Sure, it runs at 60 fps, but the characters don't have enough frames so it looks awkward.

I just finished the version on GOG and it looked so good, a million times better than the playstation version.

I don't know much more about the changes other than that.

>> No.2463871

Dreamcast, PS2 or PC. Stay the fuck away from the 3ds port. Piece of shit company porting a 15 year old game with literally no added content.

>> No.2464378

>>2463871
It was inferior to even the Dreamcast version, with shittier graphics and no voice acting.

Fuck Ubisoft

What does the PS2 version add that the DC one doesn't have?

>even the Dreamcast version

You are saying it almost as if the dreamcast version was the second worst.

this. Dreamcast was hands down the best version of rayman 2.

I actually think that makes it look charming, like a stop motion clay movie

>getting this mad about ports
what's wrong with having a game you like on a portable system? if you already own it on a different platform then don't buy it.
I think everything should be ported to everything.

>> No.2466743

Not the version I own, since it always gives me a "please insert the CD-rom" error even after I just installed the game from the CD-rom. Originally came in a Rayman 3 Pack, which had Rayman 1, 2 and M (Arena).

not him but did the DC version have the hub world structure that the ps2 one had? if so I can't imagine anything else

>> No.2467271

PS2 version
-has an explorable hub world
-has some different extra mini games
-some parts of the game are radically retextured
-uses a more advanced lighting model
-some effects are missing (dripping saliva on the teeth of the monster that chases you in the Cave of Bad Dreams)
-runs at 30fps instead of 60fps on the Dreamcast, and is prone to slowdowns

Did any other version besides the original PS release have proper dialogue instead of fucking gibberish?

>> No.2467958

>>2467836
PS2 has dubs in several languages, and never fucking saves the one you've chosen and defaults to English. I want gibberish, not terribly voiced dialogue

I 100% 3ds port and its nowhere worst port of rayman2.

Only real issues are overly-sensitive controls(you'll get used to them), audio problems(can be fixed for most part by lowering music and sound effects on settings). Framerate is not solid, but its still better than N64 version. 3D effect is meh(from what I remember), but you can always turn it off.

And DS port(called just rayman DS) is much, much worse port and barely playable. 3ds port is much better, but not perfect, but not unplayable.

Dreamcast and Pc
Ps2 isn't bad but the new additional levels are a little bit inferior of the others and feels unnecessary.

>> No.2468823

>>2466964
Shitty hub is PS2 exclusive. DC version is vanilla with some of the best graphics, framerate, and the original gibberish dialog and all that. No additions. The PC version is largely identical, but with even better graphics, and would probably be better than the DC version if it wasn't for uncustomizable controls. Even the GOG version fails to fix this, so you're stuck either jumping with a shoulder button, attacking with the start button, or some other random thing, using the keyboard, or making the controller to keypresses and thereby removing analog control. You're better off emulating the DC version on PC, Rayman 2 continues to be ported to everything but it needs to be ported to PC a second time.

>uncustomizable controls

Man. This is the worst fucking sin. So many relatively good ports are plagued by that problem.

Not from what I remember.
