>> No.2452089 [DELETED]

First for
Yes, Terminus has received quite a lot of credit, renown, hero worship and adulation for others' ideas and Ijon Tichy's work, hasn't he? Meanwhile Ijon doesn't even get a Cacoward credit for Samsara.
>Samsara,
Well to be fair, Terminus did do a lot of work on this one. But for 99% of the stuff that wasn't copy+pasting the ZDoom wiki onto the git he got Ijon Tichy to do it. Are any of you kiddos even old enough to remember Samsara pre-Ijon Tichy? It was fucking garbage, but Terminus persevered by having Ijon do all the work and then did The Right Thing and made sure Ijon received no credit in the Cacowards.
>push
Wow, what a revolutionary concept. Back in my day we called it "Ricochet" but who's keeping track? Apart from the maps made by Not-Terminus (aka his gang of irc lackeys) there's really nothing substantial or notable about it. But he made damn sure his name was front and center right in time for Cacowards, didn't he?
>cyberrunner
What a waste of time for everyone. For Ijon, for the professional 3D modeler who Terminus sucked probably a good couple hundred hours out of to model his robot waifu (Terminus is a HUGE anime mechfag, he probably made the porn of the robot himself and I know for a fact he jerked off to the robot at least once), but most of all for Terminus, who had to waste his time fruitlessly trying to learn how to code once he finally killed all of Ijon's Joy for Doom and sent him packing. Poor Terminus.
>Metroid dreadnaught
Another revolutionary concept: get Ijon Tichy to figure out to code all the stuff from Metroid Prime while Terminus rips graphics from Metroid and "oversees" while others do actual work and map for him (a recurrent theme from Cyberrunner that appeared again in Metroid and Push.)

>> No.2452093 [DELETED]

>>2452089
>demonsteele
Wow, an actual original theme for once (that isn't "robot lady with big ass and tits I can jerk off to"), featuring a Korean (because Terminus is just too much of a wapanese hipster for Japanese) loli with shark teeth. Featuring the art of Mike12 and Sgt. Shivers and 90% of the code done by Not-Terminus, including Ijon Tichy and Term's gang of irc dicksuckers ("P-Please massa Terminus, let me have some of your fame if I code for you like a good house negro? P-Please massa Terminus?") ; Ijon Tichy of course was already done with Doom, his optimisim and joy for coding for Doom completely ran into the ground, killed and pissed on for good measure by Terminus, so his code was ripped by Terminus and resurrected in a cruel mockery of the life it once enjoyed previously. Term as always was "overseeing" the project, which mainly includes "overseeing" that he gets in good with the Cacoward committee (namely kmxexii--it's obvious to everyone else that isn't a blind fucking moron as well.)
>buttpain
What, you mean that half-assed abortion (see the two puns there kiddos) that is an undeserved swipe at other modders (God forbid someone wants to elevate Doom mods to something other than "shoot monster, hit switch, shoot more monsters, repeat") while being a subpar pitch-black jumpscare implemented virtually entirely by, again, Ijon Tichy with Terminus supplying next to nothing himself?
But I suppose it's better than an hour long PewDiePie-ripoff where he compares a mod last worked on in 2008 to one that received work at late as 2014. The only funny thing about that video was how much he sounded like a faggot while choking down spicy dic-I mean "peppers."
>90% of the /doom/ images, including "SYWTPSFD?" (which features no less then FIVE of his own works on it), the /doom/ comic, nearly all of the R&T images and his gay little no hands comics are also by Terminus

Is there a way to get "critical hit" locations on monsters and special deaths associated with them beside MarkIV-ish hitbox spam ?
I remember Nash making something like this that uses ACS, but: it only detects height - like no way to deffirentiate btween front and back of a monster, and no way to detect for special deaths.

What i want: Critical hits locations -
heads for zombies and revenants
mouths for Pinkies, Cacos and Painlementals when they open them to attack you
Fireballs for Imps and Nobles (when they hold them in hands and prepare to throw them)
Joints for spiderses
Fuel packs for Mancubi (on their backs)
RocketLauncher arm for Cyberdemons
Heads for Archviles, but only when they charge their fire attack.

Also, is there a way to make monsters turn slowly, so player could run behind them? I want to make Mancubi slow and clumsy, so player could circle-strafe them and hit their back?

They feel nerfed compared to even vanilla, though, like they're moving slower or something. And headshots remain while explosive splash damage is nerfed like with normal BD play.

Honestly, I can't really shit on BDv20 besides the Classic quirks with weapons and the performance hit it's now got. But something about it now just feels.. weird. The older Brutal Doom versions were buggy, controversial and strange, but despite this being 'cleaner' and less clunky, something feels like it was lost despite all the new features and fanciness added.

Things I liked about v20, though they are present in the betas too:

The pseudo-ragdoll - kicks send zombies and imps flying, and you can roll corpses with kicks. Also kicks have more "feedback" and a generally better feel to them.
BUT. You must aim low for new kicks to work on objects - I will be a very happy panda if somebody removed that retarded new kick mechanic and replaced it with old one that allowed you to kick stuff all you want.

The fire death anims that involve zombies, pinkies, demons and cacos running/flying around while being set on fire - no more "Blood's default fire death" crap.

Some new death anims from the betas.

Waiting for Sperglord Edition to right all the wrongs.

because it fails to work half the time, and it makes kicking nobles in the nuts, which was easily done in previous version totally useless, as you can't use this feture reliably and will get lots of damage, trying to interrupt the noble.

Well to be fairly honest, I agree in the things you are poiting out, I have most of the time my marines die because of being near a fatality or near a blood fountain.

I really disliked the chainsaw because of both it's sprite set and gimmick, since the beggining, I get it why mark implemented (reference to the Doom Comic) but it just looks silly.

As others have said, the biggest complaint for me so far is mostly the melee system. The kicks keep centering my view which throws me off a bit. Punches don't feel as great either. Can't really put my finger on it.

The chainsaw is a cool idea but I prefer being able to just swipe at will. If it was at all possible to implement a combo system like the sub mods I feel like that would be an improvement. I just don't like the lock on.

It locks you, but it can kill ANYTHING. A Baron, an Arch-Vile, etc. It's a much more powerful weapon than the vanilla Chainsaw, you just need to wait for the right opportunity to use it.

>because it fails to work half the time, and it makes kicking nobles in the nuts, which was easily done in previous version totally useless, as you can't use this feture reliably and will get lots of damage, trying to interrupt the noble.

WHY:
You can kick and fire at the same time if you are dualweilding, but not if you are single-wielding.
Apparently dualwielding is easier than regular use.
IMO being able to kick without weapon lower-raise sequence dukenukem style would be much better for the combat flow

ALSO:
when dualwielding plasma, it gets no "exhaust" after firing, which makes no sense. Either remove exhaustion off single-wielded plasma, or add it to the dual.

Playing Hatred actually reminded me of Brutal Doom a lot, but probably not for the reasons you're thinking.

Reason why it did is because both try to "sell" themselves (BD ain't no paid mod) on a gimmick that gets old very quickly (i.e. Hatred's gimmick is that the goal of the game is to shoot random people on the streets, while Brutal Doom's gimmick is to be as "brutal" as possible by having tons of blood and gore as well as one-liners). Both however fall flat on their asses gameplay-wise with Hatred getting repetitive very quickly and Brutal Doom's weapons being less fun to use than even the vanilla weapons, and the executions getting old after a while. Oh, and both got attention when they really didn't actually deserve it.

I also have a theory on videogames and videogame enjoyment, that explains why your mod obtained such notability both inside and outside of doom's fandom

When I tried to talk about it on ZDooms IRC itwas called bullshit and got laughed at tho.

I call it a "feedback' theory
It sates that players enjoy recieving variable feedback from the game that depends on their actions, and the more players can affect such feedback (the more varied game's responses on the player's actions, and the more intircately the response follows the player's choice) is the better. There are different types of feedback, main being "cognitive" and "visual".

BD offers more visual feedback than vanilla not because of effects, but because of the fact that enemies behave differently depending on:
a)weapon used
b)location shot
I.e. the feedback is more intricate because game is able to follow player's choice of weapon and his aim, and gives him different effects for his choices.

Some people enjoy certain types of feedback more than the other. They couldn't get such feedback from vanilla doom, and thus were not enjoying it, but your mod provided such feedback, and therefore they were able to enjoy it.
Another example, this time of "cognitive" feedback - Diablo and Sacred games.
Both offer cognitive feedback in form of player stats and skills and how they affect damage. Player's choice here is player's skill distribution, and in Diablo the difference between higher and lower stats is way more visible than in Sacred, where going full-strength would affect your damage much less than, say inserting a rune in the sword's socket, which quickly becomes obsolete due to how game handles scaling.
Sacred decided that players want high numbers and went insane with tens and hundreds of thousands of damage and other stats, while in reality players wanted to see that their chice makes a difference.

ignoring the incredible leap in logic of assuming you know what "most people" will enjoy, what even is the point of that?
does X+1 amount of people partaking in an activity suddenly validate it and make it superior to alternatives? as long as a consistent ratio of people who enjoy Thing is at least Y higher than people who don't enjoy Thing, does that suddenly mean Thing is the hippenin' and happenin' stuff everyone should love?

most people don't enjoy doom. does this mean that playing doom isn't worthwhile because it's not what most people do?
most people enjoy nba 2k15, if its presence on Amazon's best seller is any indication. does this mean that it's superior to play?

no, sorry, the popular option is not always the correct option. that's, in fact, why options exist in the first place.
and if neither of those options are fun, but are for some reason fun to other people, does this suddenly mean i'm supposed to be jump all over that shit? am i supposed to say "aw yeh i was wrong about not having fun with this" and suddenly out of nowhere start having fun?
of course not. and the exclamation that "well you know most people will find this fun" means a sum total of neither jack, shit, nor jackshit.

>> No.2452704

That was not my point.

My point was that some people that like Brutal Doom like it for a different reason they themselves might think. The variety of visual feedback - different monster deaths depending on players choices - what makes the mod enjoyable for those people. Not over-the-top violence or effects or all the extra features, though they are nice additions. Visual effects are also part of this form of feedback, but it is much less significant in this case.

Without the aforementioned feedback variety (not talking about visual effects here) mod wouldn't be nearly as populr as it is.

Different people react to different stimuli.

Most Doom gameplay mods (like Doom RPG mod and RLA Arsenal for example) focus on providing more cognitive feedback. People who do not enjoy such feedback won't enjoy those mods.

Brutal Doom v20 on Realism Mode is a new personal challenge, man. A single Imp fireball can nearly kill me, much less a Baron or Hell Knight. Even the weak zombiemen can tear me to shreds if they open fire down a room towards me. The fact that I didn't die on the first map of Plutonia alone is a miracle. Sure, it's still Brutal Doom, but instead of RIP 'N TEAR YOUR GUTS, I feel like some batshit guy in over his head against the legions of hell that are capable of killing me in a single up-close imp claw or fireball to the face.

Although it feels like those damn zombies near-always pick me off the instant I open a door, especially the hitscanners with vanilla monsters. Round a corner, shotgun to the face. Round a corner, there's four chaingunners that will kill me in a second flat if I don't duck back around that wall.

For just how far gameplay modding can go, check out Demonsteele, Hideous Destructor, and the aforementioned Project MSX. They're all large-scale mods that leave behind very little of Doom's standard gameplay beyond the basic concept of "kill demons and don't die".

In terms of mapping capabilities, Putrefier, Thunderpeak, and Mandrill Ass Project all show off what sort of cool shit GZDoom can do. For other engines, I've heard that Eternity's Vaporware is very impressive. Fitting to the name, only a demo exists for that one.

>use of forward glimpses, interconnection, and backtracking, much of the map is visible from the outset, landmarks are initially shown but cannot be reached, drawing the player in, areas are intelligently repopulated as gates are opened and previous sight-only connections become traversible

a decent challenge from large quantities of small monsters along with a handful of larger ones, plenty of action - when you're done there will be corpses covering most every surface - but which arrive in waves to give you a breather and take stock in between them

plenty of ammunition but not so much that you can fill up and just sit in a corner holding down the fire button until everything is dead - resources sprinkled around all over, rewarding the nimble player who dashes around the monsters. the best strategy is also the most fun strategy - degenerate play luring monsters to some safe spot where they can be dispatched without risk will not work

architecturally well-detailed but not overly so, remains varied and natural, balances symmetry with enough variety to avoid the perfectionistic sterility seen in a lot of modern maps

secrets are well-hinted with a variety of triggers, from the simple differently textured wall, to switches placed in unlikely spots, to remote sound cues. often the prize is glimpsed well before you can reach it, so you're not just stumbling on things, you know what there is and are actively searching for a way to it

With v18 I really took this to the next level and now I have a shit ton of custom changes that in all likelihood would have to be manually re-engineered in the new version.

Memorial.wad is a compilation of Doom 2 levels , some levels were mirrored or rotated to connect them; they had to be edited due to the 'copyright/don't include iwad levels' thingie going on.

of course due to the nature of this wad, a lot of parts where you're expected to have a keycard are replaced with regular doors; the same goes with monster placement, of course it wouldn't be fun to play all the levels if the monsters are in the same place in every map

Zdoom maps can be good. Simplicity, Torment & Torture, and Thunderpeak are worth playing.

Its just that, zdoom mapsets are prone to either being overly ambitious hypetrains that don't deliver (KDiZD), or don't utilise the zdoom engine much at all, limiting engine compatibility with little justification.

You can already get the facing of an enemy with GetActorAngle and the the position with GetActorX, --Y and --Z.
What I meant is that you can use trig to figure out where the corners of the actor are, and then from there determine where on the actor the shot hit.
Also note that in Doom (and most other fps, even modern ones) actors are boxes and not cylinders like the property Radius would make it seem at first. They're all boxes with their base being a square with sides each of (Radius * 2) length.

So... I've experimented with the new version and the Memorial.wad, since it adds LOTS of initially dormant monsters to see how your mechanics affects the performance,
The test conditions were: idle start at HMP difficulty, GZDoom 1.8.10 AND GZDoom 2.1 latest svn. Standing still for a few minutes, measuring fps
All options same.
Core i7 3770, GeForce 660 Ti
here are results:

GZDoom 1.8.10
No mods whatsoever ===== == 1700-1890
Memorial ================ 1500-1632
Memorial+Brutal19final======= 600-640 with rare drops to 580
Memorial+Brutal20March test= =600-650, averages on 620, rarely drops to 590 (some improvement here)
Memorial+brutal20final==== ===340-450, averages on 410 (improvement seen in test versions goes out of the window)

GZDoom 2.1 latest svn
No mods whatsoever ===== == 1990-2080, average on 2060
Memorial ================ constantly fluctuates between 1780 and 2050, average about 1950
Memorial+Brutal19final======= 800-850, averages on 810 with occasional drops to 790
Memorial+Brutal20March test= =740-780, with occasional drops to 690 and very rare spikes to 820 (something fucked here)
Memorial+brutal20final====== =600-650, average on 630 with drops to 590 (again, improvement went out of the window, but not as much as in 1.8.10)

I'll do Zandro2 soon and post results, but it is clear that the performance from Monster behaviour dropped from BD19 to 20test, and further down in 20final version.
The hit is much more noticable on weaker machines, like my Asus Netbook I use to play DooM. March tet was playable with 45-60 fps during regular gameplay. final20 gives 25-30, which is unplayable to me, and that prompted me to do tests.

I know I can /approximately/ get the /basic idea/ where player is /AIMING/ by comparing angles monster looks at and players look at, BUT. If you take spread into account (and Im gonna do variable spread, modern-fps/ProjectMSX style) - you have no idea where the bullet actually HITS. E.g. you can look at Cyber's rocket arm, and shoot, but if your shot lands in his other arm due to spread/recoil, it would still count as "critical" with that method, because, duh, player is looking at a critical location.

I think you have the wrong idea about how you accomplish this.
You get the exact location of either the bulletpuff or the projectile when it hits the enemy, then compare that to the exact location of the enemy and the enemy's facing.
This is done via an acs script in the spawn state or death state, respectively.

The detailing guide itself is fine, but when a new mapper (and I'm sure we have all done this) looks up "How to design a doom level", and finds it, they go all out.

I do not mind high-detail Doom maps AS LONG as they are built as a more adventure or atmospheric mapset like Unloved or Thunderpeak, but when mappers try to build a hyper-detailed run'n'gun map and shove high-detail archways that snag the player and bumpy floors it's not fun.

There's a big reason why I play the first Scythe way more often than the second, and that's because while I enjoy Scythe 2's episodic maps and sense of exploration, I really enjoy Scythe 1's no-frills approach to combat.

i mean, can you see the difference between 1000 and 1300? i have the idea that the human eye can't distinguish changes faster than about 100Hz or so, and your monitor is unlikely to be able to update faster than 60Hz or maybe 120Hz.

1) You obviously don't know what "benchmark" means, do you?

I egsaggerated ONE component (monster) to measure how MONSTER modifications throughout the version affected performance.

I used Memorial Wad to demonstrate how LARGE ammount of DORMANT and UNSEEN monsters, whose AI , Behaviour and DECORATE altered by various versions of BD affects performance. it was used as a TEST DRIVE because with lower ammount of monsters impact those things would do would be lesser than general graphical impact and natural performance flukes.

You just proved that you don't know what a benchmark is.

Benchmark is putting certain aspect, or several aspects of something to the test, usually in extreme conditions.

You don't perform a particle system benchmark on a setup with average ammount of particles - because then performance of the particle system will be overshadowed by other components. You perform such benchmark by using a relatively simple setup, but with lots of particle spawners instead, and make those particles interact with other objects to see the impact that causes - to minimalise the impact of other components.

You don't perform a lighting system benchmark on a map with average conditions - it just won't provide ammount of lights to make an impact - you make a special map with lots of light sources that cast lights on various objects en-masse.

And yes, nuts.wad can be used as a test of monster-related calculations (simple geometry, lots of monsters), however due to the nature of it the FPS figures would be too low to successfuly evaluate the difference. But for starters - GLBoom+ runs it much fster than ZDoom engines because ZDoom uses DECORATE for monster behaviour, from which we can judge that DECORATE is much more resource taxing than whatever method GLBoom+ is using.

>> No.2454773

>>2454720
No, no, shut up! My God, you are so fucking dumb!

You can't make a benchmark with something's secondary function and say that the whole thing sucks.
Let me explain better: You are trying to run Crysis 3 on an I3 with integrated graphics, and you are trying to say that the i3 is shit because it can't run Crysis 3. But it's a fucking CPU, not a GPU. You need a GPU to run the game, and the CPU integrated graphics are disabled when the GPU is installed. The CPU is not made specifically to do a GPU's job, the integrated graphics are just a bonus for people too poor to afford a GPU. But then you find an AMD card that has better integrated graphics, but has less processing power for tasks where it was mean't to require the CPU's power. Does this means that the AMD's CPU is better than the Intel's one just because it has better integrated graphics? No, just no! Why? Because nobody that doesn't lives in a trailer park can afford a GPU. The integrated graphics are irrelevant. When you buy a CPU, you never judge it by it's integrated graphics capacity.

That's exactly what you are trying to do. You are trying to run BD with a map that nobody plays. Check Doomseeker and tell me how many people are playing BD with Memorial. Nobody. BD is meant to be played with Vanilla maps and wads such as Scythe, Alien Vendetta, Going Down, and others of the same genre, not with Memorial. And if you check >>2452289, you will notice that it is working as intended. Who the fuck cares if you can't run v20 with Memorial when you can play Scythe 2 with double the framerate? Who cares about your opinion?

that's really not a good benchmark test since it's pretty inconsistent.

What might be good for stuff like gore is if someone that is good with modding/mapping can make a map that has a bunch of monsters in it that spawns them and then kills them automatically on simple geometry. Make them get killed without seeing the player, that way the only variable is the gore and effects themselves.

YES. Integrated AMD GPU became better than Intel's GPUs after they purchased ATI.
Because Intel still uses IntelHD that is inferior to anything, while Integrated ATI can actually run games.
THEN you just compared one property (integrated gpu) to another property (CPU frequency). That's not how comparison works. That's the same as comaring tea's sweetness to it's temperature - both properties affect it's taste and whether you can drink it or not, but those are different properties.

"By legitemately crossbreed" I meant - implement locational damage and alternate deaths the same way. In DS cutting heads and other deaths happen at random, no matter where you aim, but if directional damage would be involved - then you could cut heads at will by aiming at them, and cut of legs by aiming at them.
It would require looking at the code of both mods, and blend the code together in the way that would work - namely by making DS monsters spawn same kind of hitboxes, then associating different deaths with damage from those hitboxes (the way it was done in BD)

(also forgot to mention that the power fantasy difficulty got changed from having UV amounts of monsters with trivial damage to either HNTR or HMP levels of monsters that do trivial damage, another rather minor flaw in my opinion.).

>> No.2454953

Even if this was the case (which it actually isn't), why do you care? What effect do these "wider implications" have regarding anything?

The reason Term has the invincible skeletons is because people kept bothering him about Brutal Doom compatibility when he was working on Metroid Dreadnought. When he told them that Brutal Doom compatibility was not planned and they could bother Mark instead or do it themselves, they got pissed off. This is him outright telling people that it's retarded to try to mix two gameplay mods and having a laugh while doing so.

Also >>2454947

If you want two gameplay mods to be compatible with one another, then do it yourself. You shouldn't expect a gameplay modder who does not make stuff for Brutal Doom to make all of his shit compatible with Brutal Boom. The same way you shouldn't expect a mapper to make their maps compatible with Brutal Doom.

I can understand Brutal Doom, but why Ketchup?

Also if I seriously wanted to get to work on a brutal demonsteele patch, how would I start?
Would I be allowed to include BD's monster behaviors as well?

>> No.2454969

BRUTAL DOOM THREAD / RETRO MODDED FPS THREAD

>> No.2454973

>>2454964

Unfortunately, no. Contrary to what a lot of people think, Ketchup is not only a blood replacement. What Ketchup does is it replaces all of the monsters, giving them a new blood type and XDeath states. If there were any monster replacements already in, they would be overwritten.
A lot of DemonSteele's stuff relies entirely on unique monster behaviors--aside from the obvious "give souls when killed with sword", there's also a whole ton of other behaviors, such as immunity to the "blocking" damagetype, turning hitscans into projectiles, launching, immunity to rocketjump damage, etc, etc. So another monster replacement would completely overwrite that.

Also if you wanted to start on a patch, probably the best thing to do would be opening up brutalv20.pk3, heading to the monster states and looking for Death.DamageType, where "DamageType" corresponds to a method of death. These deaths would then need to be slotted in or rewritten in a patch that merges together DemonSteele monsters and Brutal gore, which really isn't a small fear.
Hitboxes would mostly be the same thing, porting over the Brutal hitboxes and applying them to all of the states of the DemonSteele monsters.
It won't be an easy feat, but it'd certainly be fun to see in action.

And of course you'd be allowed. If it's a patch, you can do whatever you want and I wouldn't mind. You could turn the Kharon into a big floppy donkey dildo that does 100 damage per swipe and makes squeaking noises on impact and I'd be fine with it.

Plus, the two have publically gotten along before. Neither of them really give a shit about what the other is doing, despite what some people would complain about, they just keep doing their own thing.

Why in the world would people want to try and force this into some kind of "versus" scenario? Some kind of "us versus them"?

for better or worse there's a lot of users who don't even know the difference between engines, wads, and mods, and who thus have no idea that they're doing something broken.

they are more likely to load demonsteele (having BD on autoload), think that the horde of skeletons is an intentional feature, and go off to complain en-masse on the internet. amusing as that is to the "in-crowd", it is damaging to demonsteele's reputation.

Realismfag here. BDv20's Classic mode bugs aside, it's actually kind of surprising how effective the weapons are in Realism. Without the need for reloads I won't be caught off-guard by current stock limits, and one rocket will kill most enemies while the Chaingun goes from an inefficient mook-sniping weapon to literally a crowd slayer. With enough bullets I can kill even an Arachnotron or a Revenant in two seconds. It actually feels satisfying to have the old classics tear their way through the hellspawn like butter like they probably really would.

And then a Hellknight fireball graces my face and instantly kills me from raw damage output while I was distracted with Imps, Cacodemons and hitscan zombiemen all trying to tear my health to shreds. If it weren't for how goddamn fast and annoying the zombiemen were with how they attack much more often and quickly, i'd think this difficulty would actually balance itself out, parody or not.

Most maps will work in conjunction with most gameplay mods, though you may experience problems if the mapset uses custom monsters or weapons. Most gameplay mods cannot be combined with others, but there are some exceptions, such as DoomRL Arsenal and DoomRPG. You can use pure weapon mods such as The Trailblazer together with pure monster mods like Colorful Hell. Some mods like Metroid Dreadnought may seem like they'd be compatible with monster mods, since there aren't any "new" enemies, but in actuality aren't because they needed to replace monsters for certain effects to work.

If you're just asking how to load more than one file with GZDoom, either select more if you're dragging and dropping (I don't like this method since you don't have much control over load order, which can be important), or add more files to the -file parameter if you're using command line or shortcuts. Not sure how to do it with ZDL, I'm sure someone else who actually uses it can help you there.

Regarding load order, the general recommended way to go is mapset first, gameplay mod second, compatibility patches (when applicable) last. This ensures that if the map and gameplay mod both replace a particular asset, the gameplay mod takes priority and functions as intended.

Hold control and click a wad image, then drag and drop them on the .exe, note:Load order is important and most of the time its mapset->mod->mutator->patch->separate whatever that replaces music.

>> No.2455562

>>2455508
As long as they don't conflict with one another they should be fine. As another anon said, ZDL is really nice for this because you can very easily sort the load order and switch between source ports.

Mapsets and gameplay mods will nearly always work together

So I tried Brutal Doom V20 with chex quest and I think that sneaky motherfucker added in chex quest support or something because with the last version the flemoids would occasionally turn into doom monsters usually when attacking and died in red bloody explosions, now they die in green snotty explosions and never turn into doom monsters.

He probably didn't.

The update just made them more compatible.
In the 3rd one there's DooM monsters mixed in with the flemoids.

episode 1 & 2 seem to be pretty compatible though.
