So I just jumped into this game after dancing around it for a long time & instantly I'm hit with a very familiar, comfortable feeling. I've heard good things about this game and I'm excited to play it.

Is there anything I should know before going in? any pro tips? Otherwise, general Alundra thread

Get some tissues.

It's fucking hard as balls and somewhat confusing on where to go sometimes. I'm still on a current playthrough of it, making sure I don't miss anything.

Prepare yourself for some of the most frustrating execution heavy puzzles I have ever seen.

>Miss one part of a multi-part puzzle that requires catlike reflexes
>Restart retard and try again

Jumping puzzles are precise as fuck and a lot of the stuff is hard for the wrong reasons. Either the stuff is moving too fast, or you only have one chance per room. Theres a room covered in spikes where you have to jump around and light torches and if you miss or do it out of order you have to start over.

Its an exercise in frustration. It puts the game from a 9/10 to a 5-6. Combat is also a fucking joke early game, enemies are fucking tanks and your weapons deal pathetic damage. Then once you get to late game you can literally 2-3 shot bosses with magic.

Its completely unbalanced. Its really needed to be toned down.

The puzzles are the meat of the game. Hope you like action puzzles. I do.

I disagree. It is a difficult game with some very brutal puzzles that require precision, but it's not unfair. The combat is neither here nor there and is the same as your average Zelda game.

I like that the puzzles are challenging, very few console games trust the player's intelligence in that way.

Fuck the puzzles where you have to jump around with the torches
Other than that it's a simple game.

the gilded falcons in the dreams are permanently missable, and there's one in particular that is very easy to miss

>> No.2448203

Every dream gilded falcon is permanently missable.

Getting every gilded falcon gets you an item that grants infinite magic.

You will see a statue earlyish, blocked off by thorns in the field. Do not talk to it unless you have died 16 times. It gets you the strongest sword in the game.

I remember the guilded falcon in the mines as being particularly easy to miss (something to do with timing). Haven't played the game since 1998, but it was sometimes frustrating, but very rewarding. Best zelda clone and I'm surprised there hasn't been a fan remake/sequel

You shouldn't be.

Which of those was Alundra 2?

This is why I don't play RPGs

Neither of them. It was a whole new world with new characters. Really bad 3D compared to Alundra's beautiful 2d graphics but hey the game was not that bad.

Put this fucker on my psp. Never owned a ps1. Holy fuck balls I don't want to check how many hours I've spent on this game. I grew up playing Zelda handhelds and can beat one in like 6 to 8 hours, this shit I played for days and am hardly halfway through.

The puzzles can get fucking retarded but I don't care. If you're like me and your 2D Nintendo classics have become so easy they aren't fun anymore, this game is a great experience.
