ITT: untranslated jap games you wish were translated.

i love me some strategy/tactical RPGs and im disappointed that super famicom wars is untranslated since ive been downloading a ton of snes games recently. how hard is it to learn enough moon runes to enjoy a game like this?

I really want Segagaga and Moon Remix RPG to be translated, but I'm sure most people already know about those.

Nobody seems to care about Uzumaki: Noroi Simulation, but me though

Leading Company, Famicom Top Management, and Top Management II, all business sims by KOEI.

ALL the visual novels on the SNES.

Nearly any 8-bit or 16-bit RPG that doesn't have a translation yet, but ESPECIALLY Metal Max 2, Romancing SaGa 2, and Madara 2.

ALL of the stock trading sims on NES.

As many of the text/text-heavy adventure games on NES/FDS as possible. Especially Metal Slader Glory, Famicom Tantei Club, Sanma no Meitantei, and Hokkaidou Rensa Satsujin - Ohotsuku ni Kiyu.

Bunch of PS1 RPGs. Veldesellba Senki, London Seirei Tanteidan, PoPoLoCrois Monogatari, Ore Wa Shikabane o Koete Yuke (pretty sure I butchered that), PAL, Linda Cube Again, etc. At least MOON is getting translated soon I guess.

I'd also love to play the Twilight/Moonlight Syndrome games.

I want Segagaga to get translated because even though I know the game is real, I have trouble convincing myself that it is. It fits the gamer's narrative of Sega too perfectly.

Linda Cube was a pet project of mine for a while a long time ago. I recently picked it up again and can't make heads or tails of my notes. I have the script dumped and everything, but that's when I was using a Mac years ago.

Oreshika is another one by the same designer, I've also tooled around with it a bit. I gave up since the remake got an English release on the Vita.

But yeah, definitely excited about Moon. Time to replay Chulip in the meantime...

Honestly, for games like >>2430652 I'd be willing to play with just a translated script, but it seems everyone these days would prefer to wait a decade for a translation to get hacked in. Even the Moonlight Syndrome script project, as amateur as it is, has been halted because they're trying to make a patch now. I can probably finish learning Japanese by the time that will be done.

>> No.2431002

There's a space battle yamato game that I've tried to play on ps1. Pretty sure you can pilot the ship and order the turrets to fire at targets and use the wave motion gun. There's too many moon runes to figure out how to play though.

I'd imagine the reason can sometimes have something to do with people getting tired of doing a lot of work for most likely no pay. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of woild-be game translators start off all gung-ho only to run out of steam when the process reaches the height of tedium.

I wish there were official translations of SMT1,2 and ...if. That is mostly it for SNES games. I would kill for Super Robot Wars translations though, none of the OG shit.

>> No.2431171

Same goes for most creative processes. I have this problem with short stories, partially because I've set myself a higher standard than I need to. There's some analogous elements in translation hacking also.

Re: Moon, that patch is progressing a lot quicker than Segagaga's, as in people who know the project leader have been leaking info recently.

I've been wanting a translation of Super Famicom Wars for like 10 years. It's never gonna happen. You can almost play it without knowing Japanese, as long as your familiar with the formula and other games. But that sucks.

Any more Saturn RPGs and SRPGs would be a dream come true. I am working on saving up for another Saturn so I can play the new Dragon Force II translation (My old one stopped working earlier this year). The Sakura Wars games would be especially nice.

It's still not a bad idea to translate the game first. You can translate the game, and release the translation in a text file. Then later someone might be able to insert it into the game.

Or someone could just use the text file to play along with the game to make sense of it.

Why would you lump Kana and Kanji together? You can finish Kana in one weekend while Kanji is something you'll never complete because there's always another odd variation you never encountered before. If you can't read Kana you shouldn't even be on this website.
