Tomba 1 and 2 aren't unknown.

Here's a lesser known one though, Fuuun Gokuu Ninden, from the creator of Tomba.
2D sidescroller with prerendered graphics.
Don't expect a masterpiece, but it's a fun little game.

>Granstream Saga

The story is mostly bullshit, but if you liked Soul Blazer/Terranigma story of going around kinda reviving worlds, it's in the same series and is kinda that. The story is pretty meh. There's anime cutscenes if you like that. What really shines about this game is the combat, which I personally liken to a very early Dark Souls-esque concept. You dodge, block, and wait for an opening to attack. I actually wish King's Field were set up like this game was; I think I'd like it more

This one was a hidden Konami gem for myself. When Blockbuster used to rent PS1 games (hell when it still existed) i would always rent this and return it late. Then one Friday I went by there and it was gone. All the old console games were sold. I have owned 2 copies since then. If you enjoy a "dungeon crawling, monster raising, town building game" give it a shot anons.

I remember liking Speed Power Gunbike the first time I played it (JP only), but the controls are awful and the cutscenes are unskippable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3yBjvKRlBE
but you're a transforming mech bike which is cool, and when the controls do click, it's tons of fun

but one of my favorite PS1 games of all is Sanvein
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trT_LJE8CIk
look at this shit, it's stylish and fast and cool
very unconventional arena shoot-em-up

You have to rush through and clear stages as fast as possible. The more stages around another you've cleared, the stronger your ship is (but this takes time). There's a true form boss for each level if you clear every stage and boss. You can change the layer order which changes quite a few things. Cool weapons. Very replayable. Badass soundtrack (although, you'll be hearing more of the Amen break than you might want to).

the box art's awful though

I honestly think Tomba 2 is awful compared to 1.

This, for the love of God. The fact that no one has made a JF clone on modern hardware is a crime.

>Nekketsu oyako ps1 is as good as the saturn version

Special Moves

C - Desperation move (decreases chunk of health)
Forward, down, down forward - Shoryken
(Saturn Only) Up, Down, Forward - Big slash, can also be done in air
(Saturn Only) Forward, Down, Back + A - Big punch, due to the awkward command you need to buffer the command off something otherwise Rando turns around and just does a normal punch. Can also be done while grabbing.
(Saturn Only) While on low health, Forward, Down, Back + A - Super move

B-Movie/Invasion From Beyond

Fly around fending off an alien invasion whilst managing your time between completing level objectives, shooting down enemies, harvesting resources from shot down enemies and rescuing scientists in order to research new weapons and ships.

or just watch some gameplay instead of reading my half assed attempt at a description.

I really, really like this game even though I beat it only once and never played it again.

Project Overkill. Plays like a twin stick shooter except you can't shoot while running away from enemies. Gory as hell, pretty hard. Really fun. Have fond memories of playing it with Ministry's Psalm 69 album in the background.

that's the worst game in the series, tho.
