Because it was shit.

I enjoyed it a lot when I was a kid.

Nintendo turned down this when game was in tech version, they did good changes after that.

Wasn't it originally their pitch for a Yoshi game? Certainly makes sense when you look at Croc.

Yes, it was a Mario 64 style Yoshi game at first, but they changed it to Croc.

>> No.2431075

I love Croc, but the thing that drives me over the edge are the bonus rooms where you have to catch stuff in a cauldron that you move using buttons you jump onto. Miss one thing and it's over. They're always at or near the end of levels too..

I still don't know whether there's a trick to it I'm missing or whether I just really suck at it.

Played it on the Saturn. One of my favorite platformers. I liked that both it and Croc 2 were actually sorta difficult. Not super hard, but hard enough that you couldn't just blast through it on autopilot like so many other platformers.

There was a weird bug where if you played the game with certain RAM carts installed Croc's head would be missing.

TR2 was fun, but I don't think it was as good as the original.

The first game had this amazing feeling of exploration mixed with isolation. You could go on for quite a while with no combat just checking stuff out or working on finding a way through whatever was in your way.

There were these long, involved puzzle sections that would take you all over the level finding things or changing things in order to progress, and it had some really amazing setpieces (the Colosseum, the waterfall, the sphinx, etc).

Combat was super easy (99% of the time it was "jump on top of something and then shoot the enemy with your pistols while it ran around unable to attack you until it finally died"), but combat wasn't really the focus.

Tomb Raider 2 was a lot of fun, but the devs really overcompensated on the combat by throwing in tons of human enemies with guns. They also overcompensated on the fact that you could save anywhere on the PS1 version now and put in a ton of instant death areas.

That, and the fact that while places like modern day Venice and a sunken cruise ship wreck at the bottom of the ocean were pretty cool, they sure as hell weren't the "tombs" we were expecting.

I never got around to playing The Last Revelation back in the day, I'm currently playing through it on the Dreamcast and it has been a ton of fun so far. It feels a lot closer to the original than any of the other classic TR games.

I was born 88, so I was pretty young when the first one came out. Family didn't get a computer till 95, and we didn't play games on it anyway. When we finally got a playstation, 2 was already out, and it the was the first that I played. I did go back and play the first one, and it was great, but the 2nd one was what I first got acquainted with, so there was no potential for disappointment.
