Can we please talk about this game? It's one of my favorite games on the Playstation, and whenever a Klonoa thread pops up, it always involves porn. I just finished 100%'ing the game collecting all dreamstones.

Check the threads on /v/; either through the archives or even if one pops up there coincidentally. You'll see why he said that.

I've only played the second game for PS2, but I really liked it. How similar is the first one, gameplay wise?

>> No.2428123

Really like the first game. Good everything except game is pretty easy IMO. Other than that pretty amazing experience.

The base gameplay is literally exactly the same. The difference is that Klonoa 1 has less special enemy types for fancy platforming stuff, and lacks the hoverboard stages entirely for more standard platform-y cart bits or such interspersed mid-level in the game. It's also shorter, arguably.

Does Klonoa 2 finally emulate ok?

>> No.2429003

I just beat this game last week! 10/10 would play again.

>> No.2429015

Difficulty wise, how is it? On a scale from Kirby to Kaizo Mario.

It ramps up in difficulty well, and some parts will really have you ripping your hair out but that's not often.

If you're wanting to 100% the game then it is is really hard.

>> No.2429143

It's great 100%ing this game for the secret level and music box. I also love the character designs, such as Ghadius and Joka. The last couple visions are best, for all those puzzles and platforming moments.

The final stages are difficult but not impossible.

Once you finish the game you can unlock a very long secret stage that can put Kaizo Mrio to shame though.

>secret stage

The one in Klonoa 1 is small time compared to the shit you see in the later games. They only get harder as the series progresses.

Dream Champ Tournament is where it culminates. The unlockable gauntlet of secret stages features simultaneously both the most difficult puzzles I've ever seen in a platformer and the most fucking deviously pixel-perfect platforming this side of IWBTG. Good luck trying to S-rank that shit without getting hit.

Klonoa is one of my favorite platformers ever. The wind bullet mechanic is simple but extremely effective, the setting is perfect, the story is touching, and there's a good amount of challenging optional content. I recommend it alongside Tomba! and Rayman as far as PS1 masterpieces are concerned.

Klonoa feels slightly tighter and heavier, and that's about it. I think the first one is better in nearly every single aspect, and if you ever buy it, do not get the motherfucking Wii version. This kills the Klonoa.

It's like the shortest level.

>Puts Kaizo Mario to shame

I lost like 5 lives on that level on my first try, I think Kaizo is a bit harder than that bro.
