Welcome to the Retro Game Gauntlet, gentlemen.

Start at NES, and work through in the following order:
NES
SNES
GB/GBC
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA
Commodore 64
Playstation 1

You have three days to complete the game without assistance (each game gets three days, though RPGs are allowed a week due to length).

Select your system here:
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html

You can also do it manually if you don't trust the random number generator:
http://s3kr.it/systems/

Rules:
1) Savestates are allowed ONLY for the purpose of taking screenshots and ONLY if your emulator/game in question does not have a pause function.
2) Rerolls are allowed under the following conditions:
-The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
-The game would otherwise require cheats, hacks, or alteration of the software to complete due to a bug (eg, Cheetahmen II)
For games that have a high score or no end, the rule is
>if no high score has been established, set a goal and beat it
>if you.re playing something another anon already has a high score on, beat their high score
>if you are playing extended rpgs/pokemon/whatever you get a week (Depending on the game: needs to be asked in thread)

AND BRING ME SCREENSHOTS PARKER

IRC channel: #gauntlet on irc.rizon.net (Mibbit link on site)

NEW RULES/GUIDELINES TO POSTING IN THE GAUNTLET THREADS:

-Do not post screenshots every other screen, make them few and meaningful
-Do not start a new thread before current one bump limit is exceeded

Why weren't those games pruned from the list then?

It's just easier to have people reroll. Sometimes people play with alternate rules too, so in that case it might be more desirable to have all the games to pick from.

French version of that Chrono Trigger sequel. Play the English version, should take you 30 minutes to an hour.

Huh, this seems pretty great -- the graphics and music are nice -- but the controls are sluggish and the game is laggy as hell. I've tried it in three different emulators and on two different devices and it seems like it's just the way it is. Can anyone else confirm this? It's Armadillo for NES.

This is a very interesting concept! Reminds me a lot of Retro Game Challenge! Hopefully I will find a bunch of great games thanks to this (except NeoGeo since i memorized the whole library)

Is it morally acceptable to skip a console or two? I never was a huge GB/GBC fan nor C64 & DOS

Also, the irc chat linked http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html is completely empty
is there a different channel where you guys hang out?

I would rather have them have some special thing to clarify they are broken or hard to emulate than completely pruned from the list.

>>2424004
I don't remember any lag but it's been a long time so my memory could fail me.

I think the gameplay system of this game is great and rather unique, kinda like Gimmick in a sense. My biggest issue with the game was how levels were recycled, in the same fashion as Captain America and The Avengers on NES, you're going to find several levels that are almost exactly the same.

>The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
So can I skip NES games that require the Zapper? Emulating it with mouse is incredibly unnacurate and the flashing is so annoying

>The game would otherwise require cheats, hacks, or alteration of the software to complete due to a bug (eg, Cheetahmen II)
Is there any website specialized on this? I would like to make sure the games are playable before starting the challenge.

You people have already fucked the concept up.

Let's do thing! But, instead of doing thing, why don't we do what we want but still post about it in thing's thread instead of just doing it on our own, thereby undermining the concept and the environment in which people were trying to actually do thing.

Also, hi s3krit, I still don't trust your goddamn roller, Birthday Paradox or not.

okay man, i see the logic with making each game 3 days since the 10 games are 30 days, but playing through all those titles man... its understandable that some people dont like all of the systems-

Inconsistent movement and hitboxes make this game a fucking chore. It's terrible. Completely memory-based, too, as there's so much shit there's actually no warning to.

At least in good memorizers you can usually pass a stage on your first try if you're good.
