Retro demos thread.

Let's talk about game demos, shareware is welcome too, have you ever played a demo so much and liked it as if it was a fully fledged game, even if you never got the full game afterwards?

The metal gear solid demo was fucking amazing.
This demo probably moved millions of sales on its own.

I'd like to see screenshots of what's inside em. The interface, etc.

I was going to make a gimmick review channel of just reviewing ps1 demos (so many OPM ones) but then I remembered I don't have a personality.

I had loads but recently binned the lot.

Probably could have got a few quid for them but didn't have the time.

Spent so much time as a kid with those OPMUK demos

Same.
Simply just didn't have enough room in (CD-BOOK SLOTS) to store them well so they all got scratched to shit. Had to toss the lot.

I still mourn my loss. I still have the magazines at least.. those are getting beat to hell too though.

There was some fucking great ones in there. Always loved the TR2 disc.

Look at that shit. Every game on it is a fucking classic. No one remembers Machine Hunter but that was boss as fuck.

Even that FF7 trailer was incredible

I have a box full of em. Mostly OPSMUK, but a few from various other mags. Will dig them out tomorrow.

Why are PSone demos, with their menus and music so comfy?

We used a gameshark on the demo and ended up getting all the weapons from the full game, it was pretty fun. The unavailable weapon descriptions were still in Japanese.

seriously? Interesting. Maybe there's some beta content in there.. would love to see a tcrf article.

I had a demo with Abe's Oddysee, Kurushi, Ridge Racer, Rad Racer, Tenka (or was it Tenkai? I loved it either way. Fun FPS.) and some others I forget.

Were there demos for other consoles? I doubt N64 had em but I could be wrong.

I remember playing the shit out of a demo with a friend when I was a kid, but I can't remember the name. It was some kind Puzzle Bobble with bombs and seemed to be focused on versus. Demos that allowed multiplayer were the best.

The Test Drive 5 demo made me buy that game instead of Need for Speed 3 that year.
