Listen OP, i enjoy captain beefheart music too, but why can't people enjoy something for what is it ?
It's a game created to piss people off, takeshi has ALWAYS been a cunt, in his game shows, in his criticism, fuck he's a shithead in half of his movies.
The same argument can be done for the captain, he was an humble guy with a personal and distinct taste in sounds, he wadn't trying to make "avant-garde art" he was doing whatever he wanted, and it was something unique.
Just like this game for bad of for good.

When people start calling things avant-garde they're not appreciating it for what it truly is, and putting it up on a weird pedestal. It's always fun when someone sees Takeshi's Challenge as a piece of art.

He hated games, he didn't give a fuck if it was shit, he made sure it was unfair just to mock people, and it only became popular in japan because they have some weird sense of humor. But even they know it's shit.

It's really like art. A dude places a toilet in an art gallery, and people go nuts over how much of a genius he is. It's so sad it is actually funny.

Nah. All Takeshi's Challenge was is an attempt to piss off the player which really isn't even that hard of a thing to accomplish if you played video games for more than five minutes before. Just because something was intentionally bad to get a reaction out of someone doesn't make it not bad. It's neat that a game like that exists but in the end it's pretty much the video game equivalent of a gag gift that's enjoyable for about five minutes until the joke is ran into the ground.
