2407432 No.2407432 [Reply] [Original]

Would flying to Japan and tracking down 4 of these in used game stores be cheaper than buying 4 of them online?

>> No.2407453

It'd be a hell of a lot more fun.

>> No.2407459

That thing looks cramped as fuck

>> No.2407465

Call it a hunch, but I think just buying them online would be a bit cheaper than the $700 plane ticket.

>> No.2407470

>>2407459
It doesn't feel cramped, it feels better than the original.

>> No.2407474

it'd be way cheaper to buy them online. why waste money on the plane ticket and hotels etc?

>> No.2407475

>>2407432
Are there any PS1 controllers that combine the plug with a memory stick?

>> No.2407482

Not a whole lot of sense in spending the money on Hori controllers when there are N64 stick replacements now that actually work.

They're superior controllers.

>> No.2407486

>>2407485
That's debatable.

>> No.2407497

>>2407486
I have little hands, a huge collection, and children, so they're superior for me personally, anyway.

>> No.2407503

Why werent they designed like this initially.

>> No.2407504

>>2407497
I haven't actually played with one but I know games like Perfect dark can be a bit tricky with one. Everything else is fine.
I know there's no way I'd enjoy kirby with that controller too.

I'm sticking with originals with the stick adapter mod.

Of course the big banana would be better for all 5 games that use the d-pad, but for any other game the mini version is way more comfortable to use.

Good point. Just seems like the go to thing design wise.

How many N64 games even use the dpad? Just switch to your 3-prong controller for those 3 games.

The Mori is preferable to the original for over 90% of N64 games.

oh please, don't be such Hori whores.
no way in hell that D-pad is any good with the a and b button so close to it. I'm saying this despite the fact that the N64 almost never made use of the D-pad.

>> No.2407584

>>2407432
I wished it was a little more wider. Thing looks cramped as it is.

Who the fuck decided that it was a good idea to make the start close to the B button?

I'd rather track down a much cheaper gamester pad than a Hori since they are actually big and comfy to play with, sue me.

Eh, it has fewer problems than the original does. The d-pad thing is a non-issue, since the d-pad is virtually useless.

>> No.2407602

>>2407590
every time I post it some faggot says the same thing without ever having held this controller in his whole fucking life.

I know it "looks" uncomfortable but when you actually hold it and start playing you won't notice any disadvantage coming from the original controller. I know that because I've been playing with this one for a long time. the only difference is that the radius for the controlstick is much wider as you can see. the dimensions as a whole are fine. you only won't feel much where your pinky and ringfinger are if you grip the middle handle but it's bearable. it becomes more of a claw grip instead.

ya, thats 1 thing, which is certainly the best gamecube style one, but it also means buying a shitty gamecube style one and pulling it apart, and soldering that new one together. by the time you buy a controller with a busted stick, the gamecube replacement, and the updated board from the guy in germany, you're probably pretty damn close to a hori mini pad anyways.

(not knocking the mod, i've got 4 myself, but literally everything else is trash)

>> No.2407690

>>2407626
Idk man Hori controllers are pretty pricy right now.

That said realistic ebay price you're probably paying like $60 in total per controller for the controller, and stuff needed for the mod.

If you got the controller already the mod is like $20 per controller.
