Just picked up this baby to replace my model 2 from an anon. Dammit, I love it, and I love the headphone jack along with the consoles design. Going to look into a power base converter soon.

Favorite console variations /vr/?

I own a chinese famicom with built in RGB output. I don't actually use it because it will never beat the famicom 2, but as far as "original" famicoms are concerned it's pretty good.

What games do you plan to get for your Genesis?

>> No.2406432

I already have some sonic games. I'm planning to get things like Aladdin, and such. I also have mk3 with a six button controller. I'm not good at the game, but I'm learning some stuff.

You should get:

Rocket Knight Adventures
Ristar
Lightening Force
MUSHA
Landstalker
Comix Zone

Sorry breh but if that is your genesis you just have a Model 2 with a headphone jack.

Try to get one with an "EXT" port in the back and "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS" text across the top of the cartridge port.

I recommend Ranger X, Jurassic Park, Cyborg Justice, and Light Crusader as well.

Oh, also:

Streets of Rage II
Golden Axe
TMNT: Hyperstone Heist

I know the differences, but it shits on my model 2 on every way. It looks cleaner, and sounds better. It must have the VA6.8 revision of the motherboard.

Sorry to flood, but here's even MORE games you should get:

Splatterhouse 3
Gunstar Heroes
Dynamite Headdy

Don't forget:

Road Rash 1-3
Streets of Rage 2
TMNT: Hyperstone Heist
Phantasy Star IV
X-Men
Bart's Nightmare
Castlevania: Bloodlines

How much is that going for now? Like $300? You should have suggested getting Crusader of Centy too.

You should open it up and see, OP. I have a Genesis just like yours, with the model 1 casing without the HIGH RESOLUTION GRAPHICS on it, and lo-and-behold I opened it to find a VA7.

i'm trying to get a toploader and a CDX for space consolidation. once I do, i'm selling my NES and model 1/CD. i've sold my various gameboys and kept my SP.

i have a PSone and screen for portability, wish PS2 slim did too because i'd ditch the PSone then. no other PS1's because those are impossible to sell, glad I did mine at the right time.

i like the smaller versions of systems, save for the Genesis mk 3, piece of shit can't hook to the 32X or CD. i'd kill for the TG16 to be like the PCE with its size or at least get a Duo to save space because the TGCD makes for more room.

>>2407367
OP here. That's the thing that kills me about the model 3. It's literally the best version of a standalone genesis, but it can't connect to add-ons, or play some games.

I care more about board revisions personally.

It's a VA7. I still don't mind. Sounds godly next to my genesis 2. Even the worst model 1s sound better than the best model 2s

I have a model 1 and my brother in law discarded his model 2. I would love to have a model 3. I also want an NES 2. Final form consoles are awesome.

Sometimes. They usually fix things and touch them, but other things are lost as final form systems are usually made on the cheap causing a more hindering look and lost features. Like the genesis 3 having no compatibility with add ons or some games. The model 2 NES is cool tho, but model 1 tho...

I support equal opportunities for the most part but I have slight preferences on which models I prefer for certain things.
I like the HDG1 for any cart based gaming due to the cleaner output of practically everything (especially with the 32X). The X'eye has an edge on the CDX for the RCA audio output right on the back and cleaner composite output without mods - plus I dig the X'eye BIOS.

>>2407457
That and it also only outputs mono sound. Even the 'stereo mod' just clones the single channel for both speakers.

>>2407463
I love my VA4 model 2 hard with mouth.

I agree if that's the only model you have and you plan to use a power base converter or sega cd you'll want the original. For a stand alone they're pretty neat though.
