So, a friend of mine is looking at getting one of these. I'm just wondering if it a) supports snes add ons and b) uses hardware emulation. Also, general quality and such. And general Supaboy thread I guess

Why would anyone get sth like this in these days of near perfect SNES emulation? A hacked PSP for almost nothing and you're golden.

>> No.2401490

>>2401486
It also supports being hooked up to a tv. I know the PSP Go does that too, but the Supaboy has controller outputs too

>>2401490
An actual SNES supports being hooked up to a TV and isn't an emulator.

Supaboy is cheaper where he's buying. And portability is a thing

>Supaboy is cheaper than the actual thing
Where the fuck do you live that a custom designed and manufactured device is less expensive than a mass-produced, price-depreciated console?

SNES emulation on the PSP isn't exactly "near perfect" unless you're fine playing with no sound or something.

You seen SNES prices recently?

Even then, anything with Mode 7 makes the PSP fucking cry. And other things have problems too. I've never been able to run Cybernator at a decent pace.

>>2401531
Admittedly, it's shot up from the $40 I paid for mine, but surely the Supaboy is $100+

Person is question can score for $80 with employee discount. And its not any Retron 5 bullshit, right?

>> No.2401537

That's not bad, actually.

I don't know shit about the actual quality of the device, but it IS Hyperkin, so watch out.

PSP was just an example. There are other portable emulation devices. Just find one that can support a decent emulator PSP doesn't really have enough power for high accuracy) and you are pretty much set

Is that thing really that bad?

Still, that fact needs to be made clear before someone runs out and buys a PSP specifically to use as a portable SNES.

>>2401545
It's an overpriced Android device running stolen emulators that can't even be used to just run roms. Also the cart slots are tight and could cause damage to your carts over time. You'd be much better off just getting a Wii and hacking it, getting a Raspberry Pi, or buying the actual consoles.

Damn, and I was actually thinking about picking one of those things up. Thanks m8.
Has SNES PSP emulation gotten any better? I haven't checked it in a long time.

>>2401554
Retroarch (coincidentally the emulator stolen for use in the Retron) was released in beta for PSP, but I frankly can't wrap my head around how to fucking navigate its UI so I couldn't really say.

I'd still pick one up if cheap. SNES is like the Achilles heel of the PSP, it is still great for other old gaming systems

One glance at that abomination tells me it was made for niggers...

Oh yeah, if you're talking about the PSP then definitely grab one, it emulates everything but SNES and GBA (and N64, but PERFECT PS1 emulation) superbly, has decent homebrew support and has a great library unto itself as well. And it can be hacked in like five minutes provided you have a microSD card.

I had nothing, because I was born in '94 and my mother didn't buy me video games until I cried for a GBA in fourth grade
You've got some weird preconceptions, though.
