What's the hardest game you've ever played?

I mean scrotum-crunching, ass-kicking, eye-gouging fucking hard.

For me it's this cocksucker. I've been stuck on the level 4 boss for years now.

Giares is well known as one of the toughest shmups ever, it's a fuck load of fun though to be sure. It might be the hardest game I've played too come to think of it.

Ghosts n' Goblins/Makaimura. However, that game is unfairly hard, as opposed to its sequels. You more or less have to glitch the game into despawning enemies in order to have a shot at winning, and RNG can fuck over a good run in no time flat.

I was pretty much thinking along the same lines, 'that Gaiares cover art is pretty fucking metal.' I was a late 90s weeb in a garage band and tried to slip in as uch game and anime references into ut shitty music as I could. I would want an album cover like that.

I should have kept grinding and stuck with it and got gud, younger kids would have ate that up.

My retrovidya experience is not that big, but from NES that would probably be ninja gaiden and for sega genesis it's fucking mecha robots game (forgot the actual name, but basically you play as a big walker robot on different planets doing different missions, it was also on SNES), I made it to the third planet (ice), but fuck this shit. Actually my memory's terrible, maybe I beat the third level and got to the fourth - I've seen the demos, so I can't know for sure, can check tho - password is somewhere written down in my notebook.

What a fucking pussy. It's one of the easiest levels in the game. I bet you just gave up out of the blue.

In general, everybody who says battletoads, castlevania, super mario bros 3 or even megaman (sic!) are fucking pathetic. Ninja gaiden at least I can get for it's last level set.

I'm betting you're thinking of Battletech. That COULD be a hard game if you charged in all Rambo-mech, but if you took your time, it was a pussy game.

On topic, it was this game. Game is outright unforgivable at later levels, and the only weapon you can truly rely on is a jump kick(in the second it takes you to draw and fire your pistol, you just took a quarter of your life in damage, and you probably didn't kill anyone either). On the plus side, it starred motherfucking Duke Togo.

I actually a time-taker, but for instance in second level you are limited by time quite tightly and third is just had anyway - but I do admit with more practice I'd beat it.

While possibly not the hardest, i used the v gauntlet randomizer to find a nes game to play a week or two ago and got given metal storm. Had never heard of it before but decided to give it a go. It's a pretty fun mech platformer (two things i'm not usually into) i'm enjoying it but jesus christ it's brutal.

one hit kills you, and although thankfully you don't have to start the whole game again when you run out of lives the level design is so unforgiving that it's incredibly difficult not to just get fucked up repeatedly. One of the key gameplay features is to switch gravity, which as you can imagine adds a good layer of complexity to a standard platform shooter.

I managed to beat the game last night after hundreds of deaths and now i'm playing through on expert mode and have already died 20+ times without getting past the first boss. Expert mode adds more enemies while also improving them, and also gives bosses extra ways to kill you.

It's incredibly rewarding when you beat a level but after not getting hit once for a whole stage my heart almost comes out of my chest whenever i'm in a boss fight.

You should check it out if you like a challenge!

That game has such awesome animation, even the explosion when you die is great.
