What are the best Horrorgames for Playstation?

We all know about Silent Hill and the Resident Evils, what else is there?

I have Dino Crisis 1+2, and I consider buying D and Clock Tower.

I recommend you to emulate dreamcast version of Dino Crisis 1 as its by far the best one in terms of audio bitrate and graphics. DC2 doesnt matter all that much in those terms, its a great game anyway.

I recommend Countdown Vampires (prerendered RE clone... with vampires obviously) and Chase the Express aka Nuclear Dawn. It's pretty much an action thriller a la 24 the tv show but it plays exactly like old RE (item and ammo management etc) that iit should be mentioned.

I highly recommend you emulate or find another way to play D for free. I wouldn't consider it bad but it will take you around an hour and a half to finish and there really isn't much to it, it's a neat experience but I wouldn't consider something worth purchasing unless you know for sure you love it.

Well it would cost me about 10€, and it would beef up my collection, so...

Parasite Eve sounded goog on paper, but the gameplay I've seen is more RPG than horror

No knowledge of moonrunes, sadly :(

>>2383216
I would've bought Dino Crisis for Dreamcast, but my Dreamcast isn't that stable, it might have some proplems with some games. And no emulation isn't an option really. And thanks for the recommendations, will look into those.

I've been a huge horror fan for a long time, but I have to say that outside of the most famous trio (RE/SH1/Dino Crisis), there really isn't that many GREAT horror games on PS1.

There are quite a lot of "good but flawed" ones though, like Overblood, or good but uninspired like Countdown Vampires.
And then there is the "could have been great" like Marthian Gothic, which shows a lot of potential but which was released unfinished (in the same way as Rule of Rose on PS2).

Make sure to get the uncensored version of D, whichever it is, but which might not be the PS1 version.

>>2383861
I love this. It's got obvious flaws but it's Devil May Cry before its time, or it's what Castlevania would have become if it followed the AITD/RE route..

>And no emulation isn't an option really.

Why? You are willing to fuck around with PS1 emulation. I used to emulate RECV smoothly on a fucking Pentium 4 back in 2005 with NullDC. It's retarded how smooth DC emulation is.

If you are dead stuck on shitty ps1 version, you can fix audio. Try one of the other audio plugins, one that has those 4 vertical checkboxes. Thinkering with the bottom two checkboxes fixes audio (missing voices or missing music, depending on the issue iirc).

Twilight Syndrome is kinda interesting although it's pretty short (like 4 hours), you need to take in mind that the first game ends in a cliffhanger and the last chapter continues in the next game (first Tansaku hen and then Kyuumei hen). Moonlight Syndrome is a sequel and it has the dialogue translated, but it's not that similar to Twilight Syndrome. There are two more sequels (one isnt vr) that use different characters too.

Another spiritual successor is Yuuyami Doori Tankentai, it has similar graphics but it also uses open world elements. It has many good ideas, sadly it has some bugs here and there that will make impossible getting the best ending unless you follow a walkthrough.

>> No.2390340

I would approve the original Clock Tower anon, game scared the shit out of me when I was younger.

Also since there's some action-type recommendations, you could check out the first Nightmare Creatures. That game had delicious atmosphere and some nifty dismemberment with your monk's badass spear. Kind of creepy, too.
