OP, might I suggest instead of defacing history en mass, you instead sell kits? Just the sticker decals and buttons? I mean any yokel with a phillips-head could install their own buttons. You vastly overestimate the market.

You can pick up a controller for 10 bucks on eBay, no problem. Any retard with a screwdriver and a sink can clean a controller back to pristine.

Adding stickers and replacing perfectly good buttons does not appeal to the faggot collector market, they're looking for shit BNIB.

Buy broken controllers in a job lot for cheap, clean them up and make necklaces and keychains for hipsters.

If you want to make money in gaming, produce shit for Neo Geo. Those collectors are legitimately retarded.

If you're putting in microswitches you need a board redesign and custom buttons.

I don't see the point, because I know exactly what you'd put in those buttons, the cheap little 10 a penny microswitches you see in everything. Those things are garbage for controllers. Go examine an arcade button and watch how it doesn't have a harsh bottom-out at the activation point, which makes it comfortable to press in for periods of time.

>Not necessarily - solder might need to be reflowed and rubber membranes may stop working.
Solder reflow is incredibly rare, and it's not that hard to just look for broken connections with a 2 dollar soldering iron. I've never come across a rubber membrane that was actually fucked up before, a bit of soapy water and cleaning the contacts always works. Maybe in another 20 years I'll have to buy some new rubber pads for 2 bucks from china.

>>Fair Use

You spanner. Fair Use is not some magic wand you can wave to use whatever other people's property you want.

Four things go into deciding if it's fair use:
1) is it for personal profit?
2) are you reproducing the fact of the object, or the idea of the object? (i.e. FINAL FANTASY vs. a group of adventurers on a fantasy type quest)
3) Wholly copying, or using a small amount of someone else's work in a larger work of your own?
4) Whether this *might* affect the copyright holder's ability to make money with their product.

This fails on ALL FOUR TESTS.
It is not fair use, and you are an idiot.

I'm not going after anyone. This is 4chan, and /vr/. I'm betting most of the people here have terabytes of non entirely properly licensed anime/tv/movies/roms. I'm not talking about personal use here.

I'm saying that waving around the "fair use magic wand" is stupid, inaccurate, and worse than pointless, in that it only manages to confuse and muddle any discussion we might have about actual copyright changes.

I don't care even a little bit about the idiot putting them together. Fan Works are useful, interesting, and necessary in a community.

But slapping a sticker onto something and selling it with your fingers in your ears shouting "FAIR USE FAIR USE FAIR USE" is immensely damaging to that fan community, because it ends us shutting down things that actually ARE fair use. It muddies the waters, it poisons the well, and it means that copyright enforcers will be ever more serious about protectionism, killing GOOD projects along with the shit like this.

You can get NES controllers for peanuts.
You can even get the rarer dog bone controllers, and occasionally the Sharp controllers for not that much.

A custom controller for an NES? I don't think so.

I've been looking at making my own fight sticks, but thats completely different then what you're offering.

It's like anyone you don't rip off is a "reseller". This mentality that anyone who doesn't sell you rare old games for a dirt cheap price is "reseller scum" is fucking pathetic. Stay mad virgins.

I wasn't calling you a reseller. You're just an idiot trying to charge retarded prices for a five minute cleaning job and a dime store sticker.

Game resellers are a different bunch, and there's fundamentally nothing wrong with buying and selling old games. I just have a low opinion of the people who try to build a business around it because it forces them into a position of buying as much as possible and raising the price as much as possible which just fucks with the market.

None of it affects me directly though since I haven't been into physical collecting in years. These days I'm happy to play what I have and emulate what I don't. But career resellers do make it harder for my /vr/ brethren collectors and for that reason I deride them whenever possible.

But again, that wasn't in reference to you. You're just funny.

No way. The last three topics I tried to start about finding/using original games got shit on by "Use an Everdrive" / "Get a Flashcart".

There may be some that are interested in real hardware, but they get shut out pretty hard around here. The only example I see going the other way is the Retron, which everyone shits on.

They must have been super shitty threads then. Or you came off like you were complaining about old hardware being hard or expensive to acquire and no one wants to listen to that. If someone mentioned an everdrive it was probably in the hopes of helping you.

Again, if you can find a post with someone directly shitting on someone for playing on original hardware, I'd love to see it.

Good thing that 'chips' aren't hardware, right? Glad to know that things like the FX chip don't do anything besides provide data.

But here we go. Someone doing a veiled swipe and game owners. Way to prove the point, ass.

>> No.2386926

You're pointing out one of the very few examples of carts coming with extra real hardware on them, because Nintendo rushed out the product and couldn't include such basic chips on the motherboard.

The only other example of that kind of thing is Virtua Racing.

By all means, pick up the 20-30 games that aren't supported by flashcarts. I'm sure Mario no Photopi is a real classic we're all missing out on.
