Let's have a recent purchase/pickup thread, /vr/. Anyone get any goodies lately?

>> No.2380709

got Tetris for the NES and Wild Arms 2 for about $6
I was thinking about picking up Anticipation and the other copy of Tetris the thrift store had but I'm kind of low on funds

Just got this for $5 after shipping. A really bad cover art but I'll enjoy playing this on the PS2 with my kids.

The hell was up with marketing teams focused more on grossing you out than actually explaining what the game was even about during the mid to late 90s?

Marketing to those early teens, yo.

My guess is that they thought that shocking = eyecatching = good, and/or indecipherable and irrelevant edginess = appealing to teens = good to use to sell anything to teens.

I won't lie, I remembered that ad for Gundam Battle Assault I posted years after I saw it in a Gamepro. Keyword here being "ad" cause I sure as fuck didn't remember the game only that nasty ass hand until a month ago.

This is Akklaim we're talking about, not exactly a savvy company.

As shitty as Akklaim was at least they brought us Turok.

Seriously. Little kids and girls would have ate up Bust-A-Move but a cover like that basically hid the cute dinosaur puzzle game from them.

For every Turok or Mortal Kombat 2 they published, there were a dozen other Bart vs the Space Mutants or Mary Kate & Ashley game. They were also responsible for a ton of terrible Marvel games, as well as the awful BMX XXX.

Rummage sales are the best. I got Zombies at My Neighbors and Congo's Caper for $5 total.

There were some other games I should have bought (Yoshi's Island...) just to resell because they were so cheap - especially considering how much SNES shit is going for on ebay these days
