I haven't seen one in a while, so let's talk about beat 'em up. Favorite games, favorite soundtracks, underrated games, recent 1cc's etc.

I didn't believe in this genre much until I played Punisher.

Oh shit, this is too much fun, feels really fast and fluid. Any other game like that?

Also Ninja Baseball Batman is cool

Try Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, it has similar combat and fast-pace like Punisher, also more variety in characters.

I have been playing Undercover Cops recently and it's so damn good, excellent graphics, soundtrack and solid gameplay. Ninja Baseball Bat man is pretty good too, it feels like a Konami brawler but with good combat.

Shadows Over Mystara will probably always be my favorite. I enjoyed the nods to it that Dragon's Crown gave to it, but I didn't enjoy DC as much as the old D&D spinoffs.

Tower of Doom was good, but a bit too stiff, and I'm glad Shadows fixed that

>> No.2380546

>>2380535
Tower of Doom may be more "stiff", but the gameplay is also more solid/strategic and the enemy AI is smarter. I like Shadow over Mystara but i felt the combat was too unchallenging and the enemies too dumb, it's really easy to corner your enemies with infinite juggle-combos all the time, and it gets boring after a while.

I got SoR2 for the 3DS last week. The 3D effect is really neat, you can actually see how enemies are further in the background or closer to the foreground when they move around you. Also, it tires my eyes enough that I usually turn it off after round 2.

Shadow Force, interesting and ambitious beat 'em up by Technos with SIX BUTTONS, it's pretty different t others because just one enemy attacks you while the others wait, and it has a "lock on" on that enemy, so it plays like a fighting game, it also has many moves. Also the gimmick of the game is that you can transform into your enemies.

>> No.2383336

>>2383218
Same way you git gud at any beat 'em up.

STEP 1: Learn EVERY move for AT LEAST one character. Memorize each move's approximate range, strength, combo potential, etc. so you know the best move to use in any given situation.
STEP 2: Learn EXACTLY how crowd control works in the game. If you master this you can generally play any beat 'em up well.
STEP 3: Learn as many combos as possible, assuming the game has combos aside from the default "press Attack three times in a row combo" that nearly every game in the genre has. Use the most powerful ones where possible and the quicker ones when you don't have time for long combos.

>I really only mentioned RCR because it's what everyone knows, really I'd more like to see XP and stuff in a fighting game rather than "EAT THING, NOW U STRONGER FOR GOOD"

Well someone already mentioned guardian heroes, i dont think thrre is much else, or better for that matter.

>Favourites would be Streets of rage remake v5.0, the punisher, cadillacs and dinosaurs, undercover cops, golden axe revenge of death adder and denjin makai 2. Underrated definitely goes to The Gladiator - Road of the Sword a pgm arcade game that you can now check in mame and definitely should do.

Man that sor remake is the best thing that has happened for years it is super good.

Aldo why nobody mentions the rushing beat series? I mean yeah the fitst one is super stiff and boring but the sequels are pretty good, just avoid the US releases and the cover artwork.

I don't like the Rushing beat series, it's not too different from other SNES brawlers.

I played the hell out of Rushing Beat Shura and Ran.

Always play the Japanese versions of the games in this case. Brawl Brothers added some stupid maze levels for no real reason and The Peace Keepers killed off like half of your continues and removed some of the robot enemies from the game.

Has anyone tried the Knights of Valour series? Fairly new-ish beat 'em ups that are one of the few to actually have neat combos and air chaining like a fighter instead of just button mashing.
