Post the remakes of old game engines that are on the GPL license!
For example, GZDoom for Doom, OpenTomb for tomb raider, etc.

GZDoom is not under GPL. It uses the older Doom Source License.

Quake can look pretty as shit with the Reforged textures and rlights enabled. Shame all the monster replacement textures look like ass.

Think of Wolf4SDL as Wolf3D's Boom(first Doom source port to extend its capabilities somewhat) and ECWolf as its GZDoom.

Its probably still floating around on the internet somewhere, but Darkplaces does the same stuff much better. You can force the Tenebrae look through the console with r_gloss and r_bumpscale_basetexture

There's Commander Genius for Keen. It's still a little rough around the edges though, and not all mods work yet.

Also OpenTyrian. It's got a damn good Android port.

Actually, no, PC Powerslave runs on the Build (duke nukem 3D) engine, while the PSX/Saturn versions run on the "slavedriver" engine, which is actually a proper full 3d engine much like the quake engine.

StarControl II is free, not just the engine but the whole thing -- all the data, the art and the voices from the 3DO version. It's awesome.
