Which game did you prefer, and why?

>> No.2356658

RE2. I liked the two different paths through the game, showing you the same story from different perspectives with games A and B. Also I felt it was a bit scarier - some of the window jumps (like through the mirror in the interrogation room) actually still got me slightly surprised, Nemesis was pretty non-scary to me though.

Both games have good and bad points.
>RE2
Vast improvement over the original, 2 campaigns for each character (plus an unlockable extra scenario) more weapons (upgradable to boot) more enemies, more kinds of enemies. Pretty much more everything, the only downside I can give against RE2 is that for the average player it's fairly short and arguably easier (destroying everyone and everything as Leon) than its predecessor and successor. Pretty much a 10/10

>RE3
Crazy difficulty curve, (pick either easy or hard, no in between) a lot of the early game has randomized placement for key items and weapons (keeps the experience fresh for a while), almost as many weapons as RE2 (also includes upgrades on hard mode) shitloads more bosses and enemies to fight. Arguably longer than any single scenario of RE2 but as said before difficulty wall early on will probably draw playtime out. Also 3 introduced Mercs and Mercs kicks ass. Probably a 7 maybe an 8/10

They're both great anyways

But it's true, I'd rather play CV, it's my favorite. It's when RE decided to go full retard and give in to its B-movie campiness. It's over the top and fun as hell, plus it has all that backtracking the series is so well known for.

I wasn't insulting you or Code Veronica, just saying this place is mighty stale. I really think PS2 and gamecube should be allowed to freshen this place up, kids that played those consoles are now adults, so I don't see how it's going to be much worse here if they allowed them.

Shut the fuck up about Code Veronica.

No one is talking about that.

I probably told you to shut up back in the old thread too.

At least these threads have the same consistency to them and not a constant barrage of people with ridiculous amounts of self-importance.

At any rate, where my true believers at?

RE3 all day. A game that changes every time that you play. With one of the best mercs modes ever. Yes please.

Mr. X gave me more scares than Nemesis, and he was such an interesting beast all around. Or maybe the nostalgia is just stronger with Re2.

>> No.2356987

2 has a better setting, atmosphere, scenario, enemies, setting

3 is pretty goofy and I can't take it seriously.

Why didn't they get the same people from 2 to do 3? Kamiya was the best thing to happen to Resident evil.

Resident Evil 2 is too linear after the police station. Still better than Nemesis though. All Nemesis really added was the pursuer element.

I believe it is nostalgia, When I first played them I had all three games and was able to play them in a row, when I got to the police station I had quite a few bullets from mixing them so I thought alright lets do this and then he RAN AT ME way faster than anything else and I noped the fuck out of there. Later in the police station the fucking window man, "don't tell me thats a rocket launch- OH FUCK" got out of there and in marvins office OH SHIT and I just ran until the music stopped..When you try to fight Nemesis he takes twice as many bullets as Mr X but since he is faster and has a rocket launcher most of the time he is just more dangerous.

The tentacled form and the last forms really fell flat for me though, even though Mr X's last form is a cutscene fight I "oh shit"d way harder when he appeared than tentacle nemesis or vagina blob mk II.

I've never understood why people feel that the RE3 Hard-difficulty is something shocking. I came to RE3 as a veteran of the previous two games, picked Hard mode right away and felt it to be a real breeze. The gunpowder mixing mechanic made sure I was never out of ammo.
