I liked her more on my last playthrough. But she's unusable for a pretty significant portion of the game and I'd rather use Vivi for attack magic than Garnet's summons

Vivi fucking wrecks shit. it's easy to see how an army of compliant black mages could conquer an entire continent and then some without Garnet's stolen summons

Nobody likes Quina. But unlike another shitty character no one actually likes such as Cait-Sith, she can make attacks for 9,999 on-demand whenever necessary. And thus, she is far more reliable as a party-member, and also fits right into the 'best' party.

Likewise, for FF7, 'best' is Cloud, Cid, Tifa for overall high damage, as each can do a lot of hits which compound cumulatively up to almost 100,000 in a single round for that one character's Limit Break usage.

For FF8, I'd say it's Squall, Zell, and Rinoa. Though Rinoa is the weakest link by far because of her random rolls, she still out-classes the rest of the party-members.

In FFX, it's Tidus, Wakka, and ... that swirl-eyed chick. Christ, it's been a long time since I played that one. Ugh, never again, either.

By the time you get to the point where you can optimize these sorts of things, you often don't even need to anymore. Not saying that makes it invalid but probably not representative of 99.9% of the game. Yuna's aeons alone are powerhouses for the regular game.

Yeah, Tifa caps at 7 hits, but I recall doing damage in the 9,000+ range for most if not all of them. I don't remember ever doing more than maybe 5,000 per hit at most for Yuffie. While it would seem like they're about even, I just remember accumulating more damage overall with Tifa.

Does Yuffie have one of those weapons that always does crit-hits? If so, then I could definitely see her breaking Tifa's max of ~69,000-ish. However, I think even when I swapped in Red XIII on occasion, he did more with his five hits at 9,999 than Yuffie would on average.

It has been a long, long time though since I last played.

Quina looks stupid as all hell, but character wise is super entertaining and battle wise is very useful. I pick Qunia over Eiko any day of the week.

Cait Sith is just plain awesome.

If you want to break FFVII that hard just stick a Cover materia and a fuck ton of counter skills on Cloud. I had him counter attacking for more damage than Knights of the Round. Forgot to remove them going into the final battle because I wanted to see Supernova. My party spent the whole fight throwing megalixers at him so he would live long enough to get to use it.

Thing is I don't even see where it could have been lost. There's some stuff where she's asking what Cloud did during the Kalm flash back but then she never brings it up again. There's never a quite moment between the two, there's nothing to show she's even thinking

Too little too late. That scene happens long after any rational sane person would have said something about their friend being insane. Plus we don't even get anything out of it on her end. We don't get how she feels about the massacre of her town, about Shinra or about Sephiroth. Nothing. All we get is some nonsense about how she didn't even like Cloud all that much because she was hanging with three other guys. Really that whole scene felt like nothing more than a tacked on explanation to show that he was into her and not the other way around. She needed to have said or noticed something before the damage was done. It would be fine if she approached it delicately but do something

Another unrelated thing, not learning her LB's from her martial arts teacher was a complete waste. She's supposed to be a kung fu prodigy but you'd never know it from how she acts. The game glosses it over like it's a non issue and she get's into slap fights with people who mean to execute her.

If you level Steiner enough, you can just spam Stock Break and do near max damage to most enemies, even without Excalibur II. If not, Climhazzard almost definitely will. Shock is useless past level 50 or so.

I don't remember the details, but there's a dude who did a complete retranslation of FFVII for PC, and I recall him stating a lot of dialogue was translated weird or outright omitted crucial details, which made the plot more confusing to follow for a lot of people than it actually is, and muddied up some characters' motivations.

the bulk of the games dialogue is standard, choose your party, "Me too" crap. You know, how because you pick who goes with you the game can't really accommodate a whole lot of story variables so everyone just has a semi personalized couple of sentences based on what you do
