ITT: I post gifs and webms of GB/GBC games.

Here's the entire opening conversation of MGS for the Game Boy Color. Good thing the GIF is under 3MB, because you would need 6 webms to show the entire thing.

What makes things difficult, besides their length, is that I can't find a good way to speed up the GIFs I get from licecap. You can't set a certain speed for every frame, or else nonmoving elements like text go way too fast.

I was going to post the Harry Potter RPG, but even when butchered and sped up it went quite a bit past the 2 minute mark. So here's Kirby's Dreamland, the first level.

I'm posting this so you guys can laugh at me for losing at a game called "Diva Starz: Mall Mania".

It was made by DICE, by the way. I had to cut that part out.

An entire battle of Pokemon Training Card Game. It's honestly a bit monotonous, though, since I was using the starter deck. If I can find a save file of the battle with Roland, I'll redo this.

I don't know. I can't find anything about an isometric game called Warlock.

But Software Creations had a crush on Rare-sempai, and tried to get their attention with love letters to Rare's Filmation Engine-era isometric games. For instance, Equinox/Solstice 2 on the SNES is basically a fan sequel to Knight Lore.

I would pay so much to play a version of this game with the lag issues fixed and physics closer to the NES MMs while we're at it, the slowdown is my biggest complaint with the GB MMs

OP here, sorry if I was spamming /vr/ with this and acting like a self-important Let's Player. I should have encouraged us to make videos together instead of acting like I was doing /vr/ some huge favor.

I just want to play an NES adaptation of IV. I thought 5 was the worst NES game because of the boring level designs, but the GB versions are so much better.

What

Well, I use Licecap to record them, and pray that the resulting GIF goes under the 3MB mark. GIFs are lossless for any source with less than 256 colors, and that applies to all Gameboy games. I use the "Animation - Optimize (for GIF)" feature in GIMP to shrink them further, but that's usually unnecessary. They're either small enough to post or so huge that optimization can't help.

If it's over 3MB, it's converted to a webm using https://github.com/WebMBro/WebMConverter.. Unfortunately, webms are limited to 2 minutes here.

If it's over 2 min. and 3 MB, I panic and cut out as much "unnecessary" footage as I can.

>> No.2353256

>>2353253

One last thing, anything with scrolling screens = gigantic GIF. Licecap keeps GIFs small by reusing previous frames, but that only works if things don't move. The only exceptions are games with a lot of blank space, like Super Mario Land.

>> No.2356637

That'd be pretty fucking cool. We could just upload an image to share a ROM. It'd be a new era of emulating. Game recommendations would be extremely simple. Just upload a picture with the ROM along with your rec and the other guy is set.

Here it is on tinyfile if you were curious anyway, but that kinda defeats the purpose of embedding files in pictures.
