You are moving healing to the sword instead of bolos? That's a good thing in my opinion - red bar is no longer doubles as an alternate health reserve, so you can use alternate cannon attacks as much as you like, and the "sword" bar is only used for powerful slashes anyway, so you don't miss on anything. Though I'm afraid this makes bolos kinda useless now.

bola shots have infinite range, the Blazter's getting a bit of a nerf for GMOTA v.0.9.9. Standard shots travel a bit further than a dagger for example, and mid/max shots expire after a set distance too.

So you're still gonna want to to use those bola shots.

It may be because you're using Catalyst 14.x.
I had the same issue. Downgraded to Catalyst 13.12 and it's blazing fast.

Otherwise there's no internal way to record, besides demos (which are replays, not video files).

If all else fails I hope this helps.

Probably a stupid over discussed thing that is said in these Doom generals but how is Doom honestly this good after this many years?

I haven't beaten too many wads but Doom seems to have endless replay value. Some of the best single player games can still be played over and over yet Doom seems to be on another level next to them thanks to how the games were created. There's even multiplayer to still enjoy.

It feels bad that most games aren't designed this way. Even though I still feel games are a great deal even taking pricing and modern games into perspective. Yet with most games they just don't seem to be the very best they could be if you know what I mean.

Very few games ever seem to be all they can be plus more. I guess I'm not even really asking. Just more venting wishing that more games were created to be as open as Doom was.

In fact another FPS series I love and I hope no one crucifies me for this is the first couple Halo games. These games I feel are unfortunately limited due to who the copyright holders are and could have been far greater than they are today if they were designed to be as open as Doom was.

I think it's because of the community keeping it alive, which is mostly because Carmack did The Right Thing.
The release of the source code was perfectly timed with the perceived death of doom in the shadow of Quake; for example, Requiem was expected to be the last major megawad to be released because Quake was so much more advanced.
The release of the source code drove the community to new levels of intuition and increased the features of source ports, which introduced more ideas and creativity that was previously impossible.

Halo Editing Kit and Halo Map Tools are both available for the first game, which theoretically allow you to create entirely new games with Halo's engine. The problem is that a fully 3D game is much more difficult to edit than a game that mostly uses 2D assets. Drawing a sprite is pretty intuitive even if you're not that good at it; 3D modelling is a hard skill to pick up, even for tasks that seem like they should be simple.

Anyone have a link to a guide on playing Co-op through the vanilla maps of Ultimate DOOM and DOOM 2? Like, four years ago I downloaded Skulltag, created a server, and got it to appear in the list but the friend I created it for never felt like playing DOOM until just now. So, I attempted to create a new server and either I'm missing something or things have changed because I'm having no damn luck setting up a server on Skulltag or Zandronum. Whenever I look up tutorials I find tutorials about joining servers and creating maps, but not just Co-oping through Vanilla with a bro.

This one was actually completed a long, long time back and was waiting for the release of Zandro 2.0. The mapper was so patient it's not even funny.

And then there's this map, which looks beautiful but I'm a little concerned about. There's so many places to camp and to hug against walls, and they're there intentionally--he says that it's difficult to recover, so players should be able to shield themselves against being knocked off.

I'll be interested in seeing if he's right or not, but I'll be keeping a close eye on it in play either way.

Never been much of a fan of globular enemies at all really, and especially not robotic, glowing ball, or slime type ones. They all seem pretty uninspired and recall early 90's platformer monsters. Really not trying to be rude here though, I like you and your mod.

Perhaps giving it a golbat makeover with tiny little leg and eyes with a huge open mouth could work? That'd allow you to give it a ton of personality.

I don't really want to give it legs, because after you hit this thing enough times the wings are going to break off and then it becomes a ground-born slime.

and I'm no artist so I don't trust myself in the fucking slightest to give it a mouth/eyes.

and to be fair GMOTA -is- inspired by early 90's platformers, and I mean really none of the other monsters are particular inspired, I got two (soon to be three) skeletons, a flying skull, and a dragon, among a few other things.


When it's flying around it'll drop slimlings on you, as well as fire missiles that burst into several of the little bastards, after it "dies" once it falls to the ground, upon it continues to fire slimlings, any time it flinches it'll spew a few more of them too. If you don't kill it fast enough it'll spawn another big slime, and that spawned big slime will have full HP too.

This thing is going to be pretty much put you balls-deep in slime, and not in the fun monster girl way either.

Alright I finished speed mapping this bone zone
You will need to run it with cc4-tex.wad(the thing that comes with community chest 4, the cc4.wad itself can work too with right load order) or you'll see missing texture errors everywhere.
I didnt really feel like adding the texture pack itself cause it would've raises the file size to like 15mb which is bit much for one map if you ask me and im planning to release a small pack with more speedmaps bit later anyway (such as the tower map and the reactor map).

New feature for Push.

You know how in LMS, after you die you get kicked to spectate and can't do shiddly while waiting for everyone to stop slapping their dicks?
Instead of getting kicked to Spectate, you now become a playable Drone! Drones can fly around and harrass players freely, either firing a weaker pushing laser or getting in their way or drawing LEWD GRAFFITI on walls.
You've still lost and are out of the game, but for people who hate the waiting period and/or newcomers who get booted within the first minute of the gameplay, this is still an opportunity to cause some havoc and grief among the living players.

Keep in mind this is an optional setting that defaults to off. It's permanently turned on for the test server for now, but that's because of, y'know, testing.

The fear effect is a lot more subtle than it seems. And it's only active while firing, as you can see in that first webm where the hell knight rounds the corner and immediately comes back when I let up. Its primary purpose would be to get yourself some breathing space if you get swarmed, since even with your constant 44% damage resistance, you can still get torn up pretty quickly and every point of health counts when all pickups have been blanked.

No need to force aspect ratio. Only thing I can think of is if you were trying to fix a stretched display on low resolutions when fullscreen an old widescreen monitor.

Yeah, the entire game was designed with the 20% vertical stretching in mind, including how it draws geometry and the automap. All of it is made to be corrected from 16:10 to 4:3. Source ports account for this in different ways.

Nope. Map27 doesnt use tag 666. There is a closet with revenants in it that contains a switch to open the door. To open this closet, shoot the wall with the boss face on it.

it's a very clever use of the scrolling wall linedef special on a series of lines of length 1 each with a different texture. one different texture per line, successive columns of that texture are from successive frames of the animation.

probably easier for you to just examine the wad than have me try to explain it in words

I've gotten fairly far as a melee renegade with a focused double shotgun for enemies where melee simply isn't an option.

Extra damage reduction really really helps. Scout probably isn't bad either with movement speed being so important.

It's better to have big infrequent releases than small frequent releases. The ZDoom modding community has shown that reception is much better for the former, whereas they mostly ignore the latter.

Ideally, a mod author should work on their work in secret and only release when they can't think of anything more to add.

It's really kind of straightforward. Adjust the values until you get something you like.

Mouse Sensitivity is the overall setting, and then there's Turning Speed (left and right) and Mouselook Speed (a bit unintuitive named but it's up and down), which are added on top of that.

Even OpenGL doesn't work? Get GZDoom if you haven't already, it's ZDoom with an optional true 3D renderer.

Also, m_yaw and m_pitch in console can fine tune what you think is comfortable there.

ZDoom's method of freelook is the same as Heretic's, pic related. Freelook in the software renderer is a hack of the raycasting engine.

I'm been playing a bit of 200 minutes of vr and I'm having trouble finding all four secrets in The Bridge.
