ITT: Post games you think would make great arcade ports.

Star Fox 64 could have been great in the arcade too. Wasn't there a Star Fox arcade game announced like 15 years ago? What happened with that?

Can you imagine a dual or quad set-up like Daytona for WipeOut?

>> No.2339691

I would agree if it was a powerful arcade that fixed the framerate issue with Star Fox, otherwise it's pointless.

Anyway, Wild Guns, Streets of Rage 2, Granada, Yu-Yu hakusho Makyou Toitsusen, Gundam SFC, Alíen Soldier, Súper Punch out, Thunder Force 4, MUSHA.

Pretty sure it became whatever that GC Star Fox was.

Op here
I'm actually strongly considering porting it to cabinet. Most likely running off some sort of emulator. I'm not familiar with the framerate issues you mentioned, would you care to elaborate?

That would be amazing, just imaging a quad set-up with each one themed with a different sponsor.

Jet set radio really feels like an arcade port to me, even though it isn't. A lot of design choices in it are very arcadey

Star Fox runs at very low FPS due to hardware limitations, it's annoying imo. Supposedly emulator overclock fix this.

Call me crazy but I think the original Earthworm Jim would make a great arcade title.

Also, I know this is a retro board but I kind of want to say Hard Reset honestly. It was pretty fast-paced and felt challenging enough that it would force you to spend a few quarters if you did something stupid.

Gundam W: Endless Duel.

Just imagine how hype this game could be in a tournament scene!

Not to mention how sick soundtrack would sound playing loud in an arcade setting. Could have speakers in the head rest and maybe a sub below the seat.

>TFW why did they never make this?!

Hardware limitations. So conceivably an emulator could run it at an acceptable speed?

We've actually had G:BA 2 projected on the wall outside of the arcade. It would make a good port though. Glad you brought that up.

>>2340210
Never played JSR, but I do agree with you about Earthworm Jim.

Aw man, you reminded me of the Warioware minigames where they remade 3 short star fox levels running at 60FPS with analog controls.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5HK_g4Kng8&hd=1

It was so damn good it was painfully bittersweet. If only they had remade the whole game.

R-Type III only needs one major improvement and that would be to cut out all the empty bits of stage 1, 4 & 5. Would also be nice to hear the soundtrack with the usual Irem sound quality.

You'd have to hack the game to get it smoother but at the same pace. Might not be necessary, though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLcw3O7aTgo

the side-by-side clues you in that everything's basically in slow motion in Star Fox by default, which I never noticed before. Even the overclocked one is far slower than Space Harrier.

look man, I'm no expert, but every Star Fox (SNES, yes) model has been ripped, and I'm pretty sure you can find every sprite (background etc) from The Spriters Resource immediately. And if something's missing, ripping it can't be that big of a deal. The soundtrack is available as lossless SPC.
Someone competent enough of a programmer could definitely make a 60fps remake in a matter of months in unity or some shit.

Reminds me of the "video games" you see them playing in TV shows.

>> No.2342047

Problem is, you'd be standing there for a long fuckin' time playing it. Especially JSRF.

Shit isn't as easy as they make it look

>> No.2342072

Hagane and Bulk Slash could have worked in the arcades. I feel like the original Thunder Force was always meant to be an arcade game but Tecno Soft didn't have the resources back in 1983.
