I always wanted a gaming laptop, so I got myself a Thinkpad t60.

What are the best PC games to play on a 4:3 monitor?

>> No.2337347

4:3 monitors are better for Goldsrc, Unreal Engine 1, and Quake 2 engine games than widescreens since these engines are all vert-. By going widescreen, you actually lose vertical FOV.

Old thinkpads are good for playing /vr/ era PC games, but have trouble pushing the kind of framerates you need for real mlg pro skills.

You've got a monitor that'll run 800x600@200hz, right?

Quake2 has an FOV command though, but multiplayer servers can disable it. I believe gloom disables it by default, what with how some of the alien units have an unusual FOV as part of what they are.

Oh yeah, and that's what you use for sniper macros!

It's disgusting that the retail version of Half-Life was hor+ but the Steam version is -vert.

Not OP, but I'd appreciate that upload.

Also, OP, try Freelancer and see if it works.

I'm working on the upload. I can't find the game anywhere but there is a dead torrent on TPB. It's a first person 3D puzzle game that runs on the Unreal engine.

Sounds cool, I remember playing Castle of Dr. Brain a while back and would like to see where the series ended up. Description you gave sounds neato.

Holy fuck, Freelancer on anything but 4:3 is a nightmare.

I know it. I'm just saying hardware-wise. I dunno much about T60 but I guess it should run FL if it runs Q3. And it's a good game too.

Enjoy! You will need some kind of iso mounting because there is a CD check and no crack I can think of.

Do you have Dr. Brain: IQ Adventure too?

That game was childhood. I played it at cousin's and at school all the time.

>4:3 monitor?
Pretty much every single /vr/ PC game, and even the majority of non /vr/ games.
Most games work perfectly fine at 4:3, games that fuck up displaying it or somehow benefit from it more are rarer even today, but it's becoming more common. Especially with the indie markets.

Random thought: I hate platformers designed for 16:9 or other wide displays. Shit looks ugly as all hell.
