I traded Star Wars Rogue Squadron to get this game (CiB of course) back in the day. Still one of the best trades of my life.

For some reason, Konami never released any Goemon game on Sega systems. And the PS titles weren't their best. Nintendo got all the best titles from the franchise.

With current Konami, who knows what'll happen next. Goemon was a popular franchise in Japan in the 80s and 90s, but japanese kids today don't recognize him, or do they? I don't know, I think Goemon is only remembered by older people. Pachinko slot machines is all Goemon is getting nowdays, which is sad.

The Goemon titles are 2 amazing games, it's worth getting a hold of them.
By now everyone know the best way to play N64 exclusives is on the real hardware. If you don't want to spend on games, you can buy the everdrive.

They will continue to make Pachislot machines and if they're feeling really dicey they'll do an awful mobile game.

Mystical Ninja is totally 3d like a Zelda game so its a bit different. Fucking awesome game you should check it out

last time i've tried playing it there were alot of graphical glitches, and slow downs once you leave your house

I do not like Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon much, tbh. It's very slow-paced and has bad framerate. The music is as good as you would expect from the series, fortunately. I tried to play it after absolutely loving Great Adventure, but was quite let down. I didn't finish it, however, so maybe it gets better.

As with many games of the time, the framerate lowers in open-ended areas, but it's pretty decent in smaller ones (for example the actual dungeons/castles).

MNsG is an amazing game. GGA is easier to get into because it plays like a regular side-scroller, but I'd say take a chance with MNsG.
Levels like the Gourmet Submarine or the last castle contain some of the best 3D platforming I've played, even counting up to nowdays (genre is pretty much dead anyway)

Okay, I will try to give it another go. Maybe it was just the transition between the two games that was so jarring.

Signposts or spend a night at the inn. If you're at Ode castle, you can save on the sign post right on the door.

However, you need a memory controller pak in order to save in Goemon, I hope you have one.

I read your post and I wrote it wrong too. It's Edo.

Also, you don't need to spend the night at the inn (that's only if you need to replenish health), but you can save with the lady at the Inn.

the main thing wrong with it atleast from PJ64 1.7 was there were graphical glitches and the underwater parts would just be a black screen with jumbled graphics on the edges. can't remember much but those were the main problems.

Maybe the developers just loved Nintendo?

Most of the veteran developers of the Goemon games now work for Nintendo as "Good Feel"

With that said that would be a weird reason to make most of the games exclusive to Nintendo hardware.

I wish. I would go out and buy a Wii U and every port of MGSV right now if it was coming.

There were a good number of Playstation games. A quick search told me about 5 were exclusive to Sony platforms; three of them were PS1 exclusives.

Still, it is interesting that they focused on Nintendo, especially in the Fifth generation.

Also, noticed nobody's said anything about Legend of the Mystical Ninja. I've only ever played it through Virtual Console, but the co-op is really amazing.

Yeah, Goemon was only on Nintendo and Sony systems. The PS1 2D titles are good (kinda on par with the SFC games), the 3D one, not so much.

It's a really amazing game, Goemon 2 and 4 on SFC are also great and have co-op. (Goemon 3 is more like a Zelda game, so it's harder to play without knowing japanese)

Right now Good Feel is trying to hijack Konami back to redeem the company after what Kojima did to it as Yoshi's Woolly World is done with.

It's as tricky for them to get working as it is for us, that's why the n64 virtual console library is so small.
