In your opinions, what are the hardest NES/SNES games you've played? Mine is Mega Man no matter what anyone says

The first megaman is pretty difficult, but not too crazy.

I've personally had a lot of trouble before beating Actraiser 2, Pocky and Rocky, Ninja Gaiden 3, and Ghosts and Goblins.

I never saw why people found MM so hard. It's not exactly easy, especially the Wily stages, but it helps if you start with Guts Man so you have Magnet Beam for Ice Man's stage, and also use Fire Storm for the doppelganger boss in the Wily stages. Oh, and the select glitch of course.

Electric man's power also gets rid of the blocks, so you can just do electric man twice and carry on to ice man.

As for me, currently Castlevania 3 is kicking my ass, especially in the castle.

True, but I think it's easier to just start with Guts Man instead, especially since he's the easiest to beat with just the buster.>>2327570

Super Ghouls and Ghosts.

There are probably harder ones out there, but this was the hardest game that kept me coming back for more the longest.

Battletoads took me months to beat

Likewise with Gradius, and the furthest I've gotten in III so far is the fast scrolling bullshit after the plant stage.

Level 5 of Castlevania was a roadblock for a while, and it still gets me stuck whenever I play it, especially since I don't abuse holy water.

I got stuck dying over and over on levels 3 and 6 of GnG for around 3 hours apiece, but at least it has infinite continues outside of the japanese version.

I still haven't beaten Mr. Sandman. I have no idea how you're supposed to time that shit.

Takeshi's Challenge is pure bullshit from start to finish, no matter how much you cheat.

And then there's this

People always say Ninja Gaiden, but Ninja Gaiden is a cake walk compared to Ninja Gaiden 2.

Ninja Gaiden is beatable but I guess I don't have the patience to do it. I love the game but eventually it's just crazy.

I have a hard time with all Schmups in general. It's a genre I respect but have no skill for. I know the ideas behind memorizing patterns and whatever, but I just don't have it in me I guess. The only one I ever completed was Raiden Trad which is one of the easier Schmups.

Jurassic Park for SNES. Not only did the game scare the shit out of me (lol those First Person parts indoors with dinosaurs attacking you) but you had to get every damn egg to win. Again, not impossible or anything but I never had it in me and I still don't want to play it because I have better things to do (like post here on /vr/). I can also respect the game for the visual detail, the mostly smooth controls outside of the first person parts, and some overall groovy soundtrack, but I still don't want to play it because it's damn near fetching endurance bullshit for me.

Star Fox on the Hard route, especially Sector Z, can seriously go fuck itself. I have an infinitely hard time judging where those rotating polygons are so I can avoid them. I mean I eventually got it and beat the hard route so maybe I can't call the game extremely super hard but I feel like it's all luck when I get to Sector Z. Either I get lucky and make it through somehow, or I don't and just shut the game off and wonder why I bothered to even try it again.

I always die right there. I found the battle against two of them hard enough, but THREE? How the fuck did Grandpappy Plok pull that off? Are there only two left because he KILLED one of them or something? He must have been a badass.

NES
>Castlevania 3. It's like CV on steroids. I love it, but I'm not sure if I'll ever beat it. Makes me feel 6 all over again.
>The Lone Ranger. Good luck beating this game asshole.
>Darkwing Duck. Capcom at it's best, like Mega Man.
SNES
>Prince of Persia. Between the controls and the BS the game throws at you, I haven't bothered trying to get far.
>Lion King. Well done game, but brutal hard. Reminds me of the early Commander Keen games.
>Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures. This is BS and Minigames:The Game. Pretty game, but terrible game.

I think CV3 is one of the hardest games on the NES which is also worth playing (because there's many that are difficult because they have poor controls or bad level design).

That said, some parts of the later levels are easier to navigate with Alucard, although using Grant in general is considered the best way to complete the game. The bosses are not actually difficult, it's just getting to them is a pain in the ass.

One of the many NES games that is difficult simply because it's terrible, not by design.

>Solomon's Key
Difficult but totally doable, in that once you figure out a solution you can repeat that method with success 100% of the time.

For my first time playing I actually went with just Trevor for a more "classic" experience.
>dat level after death
Jesus fucking christ
That is my one complaint, bosses are generally too easy, the only one thats been any difficulty is Death.

Wait, you found Darkwing Duck hard? How?
As a kid I played it on a rental when it came out, got to the last level and got stonewalled. Didn't play it again until I bought a copy 2 months back, and had the game beat in just over an hour.
Great game, and I agree with the statement "Capcom at its finest"' but it no where near as hard as Rescue Rangers, or half of the Mega Man series.

bosses in castlevania have always been a cake walk once you figure out the trick though. The games themselves are really easy too the problem is people react to what is happening instead of reacting to what is going to happen. Everything in castlevania moves in extremely predictable patterns those annoying fleamen are super easy once you know how their AI works. The hallway before death in the first game is extremely easy once you notice the pattern and see there are safe spots where you can take out the knights and not have to worry about the medusa heads. Death is always a tricky boss because his scythes seemingly appear at random but you can influence where they appear by where you destroy them. In CV3 just walk around the floor and throw axes at him and deal with his scythes with your whip. He's pretty easy. Remember the trick to castlevania is to know what happens before it happens if you have autistic pattern recognition like me it won't be a problem hahah.

Hey man, the hardest game for you is the hardest game for, don't let MLG tools (even vr ones) dictate your experiences to you.
On topic though, it's Ghosts 'n Goblins for me without a doubt. Shit is crazy.

>> No.2332403

>>2331938
Its actually really good advice. It is literally the same thing every time. If you go into it with that mind set then you'll have the pattern down in 3 tries. Then just do that every time and you'll never get hit even with sloppy timing
