I was playing ff6 and the nes version of wizardry on this phone for a while. Anybody have any suggestions for a crawler I can fuck around with for a couple hours a night and not get completely shit gits bored? I like nethack, too.

I've been playing the iphone port of the GBA version of the SNES remake of Shin Megami Tensei, you can get an SMT game for pretty much anything I think

POWDER is a nice roguelike

Is that in english or japanese?

nvm. Looked it up. No version of Android yet, sadly. One can always play english patched SMT on a SNES emulator for Android, but it's more buggy and not as pretty as the GBA version.

I'd like to find some NES/GB/GBA dungeon crawlers but "graph paper required" is kind of a deal breaker for something I want to play on the go

>> No.2307851

Pixel Dungeon is the perfect answer. I initially thought you made this thread to get that as a response specifically.

A first person RPG I do think is underrated is Sword of Hope II on the gameboy. I never really got lost in it either, so you shouldn't really have to do deal with the "graph paper required" problem.

For the GBA, try Mazes of Fate. Avoid the DS version like the plague.

Ugh don't know why I posted a picture of Arcana. I guess it just came to mind first when I thought first person dungeon crawler where you don't need to graph things out because it has an auto map.

Though, that's on SNES.

Here's Sword of Hope II.

OP hurr, dude, sword of hope! I remember when those came out, always wanted to check then out!

I'll check the others out, especially pixel dungeon. Thank you.

Is there any way to play pixel dungeon without an android phone?

Also, are any of the gameboy SMTs 1) dungeon crawlers 2) translated?

>Is there any way to play pixel dungeon without an android phone?

Yes, the game is written in native Java. So Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux, anything with a port of the Java Runtime.

The writing is better for the fan translation, since they took a lot of libertiesbut got a vastly superior product as a result.
the iphone port has a more faithful translation
it also looks.prettier and fleshes out the story more like the gba version did

Regardless,SMT1 is game worth playing no.matter the version

alternatively,if you wamt something that looks better, consider something like kyuukyaku megami tensei or SMT2

Nethack and unNethack have an Android port that doesn't suck.

You can also play DOS/early Win on one with Dosbox Turbo.

I've been playing Torneko for the SNES. It can fuck you over with RNG sometimes, but it's pretty good in short bursts.

Tried pixel dungeon, rad soundtrack but the lack of directional keys and randomly spawning creatures turned me off.
