Got back into the game after 5 or so years, Pyron is a miracle of the Universe.

Is it weird that I like DS much more than SF?

>Is it weird that I like DS much more than SF?
Not really. DS does pretty much everything SF does plus a lot more. That was kind of the whole point of the series, after all. To build upon and expand the foundation that SF2 had set.

Not really. Characters were much more interesting in design and gameplay. Shame the only characters everyone cared for in the end are just the fanservice girls.

Huitzil is best character.

Capcom's poor handling of the series in crossovers and such has a lot to do with it. If they had put Demitri in MvC1 instead of Morrigan back in 1998, I thin things could have gone differently.

>>>>2303881
I like the characters better. It's always felt pretty unbalanced, though, and no one ever wanted to play it among my friends (maybe too animu looking). Nobody plays it online either.

Still, I'd kill for a new one.

>maybe too animu looking
I never understood that complaint. It's not really any more anime than Street Fighter Alpha and such. If anything, it leans pretty heavily toward western comics (design-wise) and cartoons (animation-wise).

As usual.
>If they had put Demitri in MvC1 instead of Morrigan back in 1998, I thin things could have gone differently.
Demitri is nowhere nearly as popular as Morrigan, and Morrigan is the one that beats the shit out of Jedah in the Canon DS ending so they she's pretty hyped by devs and fans alike. Didn't he and Jedah end up in SNK vs Capcom?

So, who were your mains?

DS:Talbain, Victor
DS2: Donovan, Talbain
DS3: Jedah, Talbain, Pyron

Morrigan's so much more popular because of the crossovers. Most of the people who know her don't know the first thing about the actual Darkstalkers series. I'm saying things could have gone differently.
>Morrigan is the one that beats the shit out of Jedah in the Canon DS ending
There is no canon ending. It's a cliffhanger. We don't know what the hell happened. For their fighting game series, Capcom usually doesn't decide how the events of a game turned out until they make its sequel. And of course that never happened after DS3.

That sort of thing happens when you spend 3 months just constantly churning out designs. Some of them are shit. Some are okay. Some turn out good. That's how brainstorming works. Throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

I only started playing the series with Savior and Bulleta's my main... though I'm fucking shit at the game so that's a bit of a misnomer.

I used to be good at DS, I'm pretty rusty now though, I'd need some time to get back to the level I was years ago and unfortunately the game's even deader now, so it's virtually impossible for me to get better unless I brainwash some of my friends to play it with me.
SF, I never really shined at it, I didn't like it much and the shift from SF to the the Alpha series and then to 3rd Strike really made it much harder for me to get good enough to play it competitively.

The only SF that I played intensively was 3rd Strike, Alpha was one of the FGs together with KoF that had some kind of unsurmountable wall for me, something just doesn't click for me with those games I can't link for shit, I find the movements either too slippery or too stiff.

DS was love at first sight together with GG, they feel much more "natural" for me, and I like the cast and designs more than most FG.

I'm not talking about Savior specifically I'm talking about the series as a whole. You know it didn't start at Savior, right? That the first Darkstalkers was the very next Capcom fighter after all the different versions of SF2?

Well duh. It was on a dead platform that Capcom tried forcing on the market, that had no other games besides Street Fighter 3 (and something else I forgot), and the boards broke if you farted in their general direction.

If it was a CPS2 game, it would've been much more successful.

Oh, and it had this continue system where you could note down a password or use a memory card or something, and then start a new game with your previous levels. I don't think that was very successful either.
