Okay Mother fanbase can be pretty bad at points, but come the fuck on, we're talking about the Zelda fanbase here. They're about 10 feet above the average Sonicfag and 15 above a pokemaniac. and Pokemaniacs get hype for Nintendo's official remakes.

My favorite part of this is OP's whole.
>Why aren't people making these things for free?

I'll give you the breakdown.

1) Its fanfiction tier. You will attract the worst kind of people to this project. The kind of people who would rewrite dialogue "for the better" and would no doubt do stupid shit like make it cryptically hard for the sake of it. Source: Zelda: Parellel Towers

2) Its a huge undertaking. Everyone thinks making a game is fucking easy, but its not. Theres a huge amount of time investment, and you'd have to remake a lot of assets for things that simply aren't in alttp that are in zelda.

3) You will get Cease and Desist'd by Nintendo at some point. So why bother? I never understand why people even do this, combine this with 1 and 2 and you wonder why people don't do it?

I would much rather someone try and make something new iwth their time then waste it doing unofficial remakes that are going to be inherently terrible.

tldr; Waste of time. If you want to do it do it yourself you fucking pleb.

Zelda Classic is absolute garbage. It has one and a half developers and a codebase that no one wants to touch with a ten-foot cattle prod. The sole community it still has is the very worst sort of hugbox (even worse than here) and the only guy who ever delivered on anything more than a glorified Zelda 1 clone quest probably won't be doing them much longer anyways.

The only thing worse than how Zelda Classic is coded is the community around it. The sole thing they seem to excel at is announcing big, huge, incredible-looking quests and then failing to deliver so much as a 30-minute demo. You have _no_ idea how many projects I saw over there amount to little more than a stale fart in the wind after _years_ of blustering, fanfare, screenshots, concept art (yes, FUCKING CONCEPT ART), and soundtrack previews. Quite big. The overworld was cut in half and restructured a bit, and the dungeon layouts have all changed to spell out SGIGA (after St.Giga, the publishers) in the same way the original second quest spells out ZELDA.
There are hacks that remake the original game's layouts, though.

>> No.2308683

The more I actually play retro games the less I understand the remake madness.

A Link Between Worlds was pretty much the perfect way to do it, it's a totally new game using the same map layout, gameplay principles and art direction. Zero Mission was the same way, even though it's supposed to be a remake, it's essentially a new game.

So why bother remaking Zelda 1 and Metroid 2, it's not like there's a deep story to experience. If you don't want to play with the dated controls and graphics, you don't want to play the game anyway, so why the fuck not just play an actually new game?

I won't count ports and updates like the 3DS Zeldas and Chrono Trigger DS though, because they're literally the same game.

Zero Mission is basically a Metroid 1 remake in SM engine. Besides, what's the point of this OP? Remaking the games like that would change too much of how they play. It'd be like remaking F-Zero X in F-Zero GX's engine.

What's "wrong" is that they don't take it that literally. Many have acknowledged that it's not truly SM's engine but is functionally the equivalent.

What's wrong with you is that you take people's words too literally and then use that as an in to insult strangers online.
