Hey /vr/, I'm feeling a bit bummed this evening. What are some comfy games that will cheer me up?

Famicom Bunko Hajimari no Mori was one of Pax Softnica's later adventure games, similar in ways to Shin Onigashima but in a modern setting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5wa7bP3se0

speaking of pax softnica, anyone played this game? called TAO: The Way.

There is an english translation patch, but the game is really really weird and obtuse, and you can't tell if the text is nonsensical because of the translation, or because the original text is also like that.

I got stuck at some point in a temple, should go back and try to finish it.

don't escape your problem with games. tackle it head on or figure out how to improve yourself from the experience.

play games with a positive mindset

I like it because I like weird old rpgs but the game is pretty clunky and obtuse at best and I don't think it's the translation's fault.

Try one of the River King games. They're rpgs about fishing! Pretty relaxing when you want something different to play.

River King GB is a terrible game.

Super Mario RPG is pretty comfy and cheers me up.

I think River King 2 for GBC is nice. For whatever reason, I've always enjoyed fishing minigames in games. I like it. *shrug*

Jesus Christ IOG was full of dark stuff. Slavery, murder, suicide, russian roulette, you name it.

Hacking the graphics for Boku no Natsuyasumi to make the writing palatable (localized really) for a non-Japanese audience will be fun, challenging to make sure it works for every possible disc version of the PS1 game.

No, cuz it's a comfy game, tops /vr/'s iyashikei list IIRC. Like Shin Onigashima, the way it displays text (right-to-left, vertical orientation) is alien to many of us but not to Japanese players.

Both of them are fucking awesome. Assuming you're into this kind of thing.

This may be an unusual one, but my go-to comfy game is Ecco the Dolphin. Parts of it are super hard, but I've been playing the game for so many years that even that's second nature. When I want to relax I just go to one of the levels and swim about enjoying the scenery. Sometimes I just hang out in the home bay enjoying the music and never jumping high enough to initiate the game events.

If you just mean "easy, relaxing, and optimistic" then the best game to play for that is probably Earthbound.
