PAL got fucked 90% of the time, but once in a blue moon they got an amazing-looking, unique game just for them.

Definitely NTSC. Since I started collecting retro games here in PAL land I miss out on so many good games.

I just wanna play Valis :'(

>>2290586
true, so glad we got Terranigma

Britbong gamer here.

PAL got FUCKED back in the 80s/90s. As far as I'm aware, SEGA were the only ones to adjust their games to make them run full speed at 50HZ, and even then they only did it like half the time.

Nintendo fans were screwed. SNES games were unoptimised and a lot of big hitters like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy weren't even brought over. It's funny how it's shifted now and Nintendo of America are the shit ones whilst NoE are alright.

If you were an RPG fan in PAL land you got fucked over harder than anyone else in the history of video games.
We pretty much missed an entire generation of JRPGs, from Chrono Trigger to Earthbound, to Final Fantasy to the Super Mario RPG.

I'm an Ausfag and I'm pretty sure we didn't get Terranigma either. The one thing we did get was Secret of Man's.

In PAL land there was no reason not to own a Mega Drive instead of a SNES. It got every RPG except for Shadowrun.

This is because the North American market in the '80s and '90s was the biggest market for games.

You could totally flop in Japan and Europe, but if you succeeded in the NA market, you made it.

There is also the fact that Japan is NTSC and therefore has an easier time with NA because of format similarities.

The only good thing PAL had was RGB cables like SCART.

It's honestly disgusting how companies bended that region over with 50hz.

You guys have the coolest ICO boxart though, there's always that.(I know, not /vr/ but hey we all saw the PS1 footage).

Ecco the Dolphin Tides of Time has extra lines in the PAL version.

Force the PAL version into 60hz and it will overscan.

>> No.2290728

Sony could have saved PAL gaming if they made 60Hz universally available, but Europeans have been cucked until we finally got equal treatment starting with the Xbox 360, which is of course far too late for retro games.

NTSC got the best when it comes to consoles and Japanese games in particular, but PAL had loads more games on the Amiga, C64, ST, and even got computers we didn't (e.g. ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC.) In the end it's all up to preference.

Isn't it controlled by developers and lacking in some games? It is on PS2 and Xbox. The latter supports 60Hz most of the time, but it lacks 480p.

>> No.2290780

>>2290771
No, sega made it mandatory that all pal games also support 60hz.

>> No.2290789

>>2290771
what the hell do you mean by lacks 480p
progressive scan is always 60fps

>what the hell do you mean by lacks 480p
I mean exactly this. PAL Xbox has no progressive scanning.
