is everdrive 64 good

>> No.2288745

It's not good.

>> No.2288750

It's alright.

>> No.2288751

I think its good

>> No.2288753

It's very good. Although if you have most of the good stuff already, it May not be worth it.

Sorry, spoiler text in original post didn't make it in. As a serious answer, v2 is good, I hear v3 is better. If you don't have any games or want to get rid of yours, it's a great solution. And to paraphrase an anon on the previous thread, the fact that emulation isn't as reliable for n64 as other systems, it's worth picking up from that standpoint as well.

I have 2.5 version and its pretty damn good, there are 2-3 games that wont work(or rather save), and in 2.5 version you have to hit restart after you are done playing or you lose your save for that game, in v3 its fixed but its more expensive.

Overall its worth the money if you dont want to spend money on more expensive n64 games(and in long run everdrive is cheaper option, especially when n64 emulation sucks).

>>2288742
It's a great alternative to combat the recent rising prices of N64 games. Some games require a patch in order to work, but one feature the Everdrive's OS has is an autopatching system.

so you hafta save in game first then hit reset

I'm really autistic guys, is there a way to auto-boot into a game rather than launch a menu? I just think it'd be cool.

>> No.2289705

>>2289486
That is pretty much it.

The v3 version uses a replaceable battery to hold the save so that you do not have to do this

Sure. Write custom firmware to do it.

why do you make this thread every day

everdrive 64 is pretty good
pretty much all the everdrives are good
sd2snes is better than super everdrive but both are really good either way

just get them if you want to play on the actual system and you don't already own all the games you want to play

>> No.2291280

>>2288753
Yeah, it made me realize just how limited the N64 library really is. That being said, there were plenty of games that I didn't already own. On top of that, it's a great space saver. Having a wall full of old cartridges stops being cool after college.

On the V3, games auto-save. If you get a V2 (earlier model), you just have to reset the console after saving in order for it to dump the save file, not a huge deal really. I've got a V2 and its great.

where did you get that shell?

>> No.2291494

Retrogate, they had option for that and regular shell but they dont seem to have/sell everdrive64's anymore for some reason.

Does retrogate even sell anything anymore? All of their inventory is out of stock.

>> No.2291574

>>2291518

Yeah, they do. Its the store of the guy who actually makes the everdrives. I think he usually gets them in batches.

Actually, apparently that's not the case according to here: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2773.0

The new site is http://store.krikzz.com/

RetroGate has been since around the beginning of march.

Oh thanks for reminding me to check the store. They seem to be in-stock. I just bought an ED64 and an SD2SNES. All my waiting for Krikzz prices finally paid off.

its good

>> No.2296881

Unrelated but I didn't want to start another thread about flashcarts. Does anyone know if the Everdrive N8 Famicom version allows for expansion audio with just the Famicom itself, or do you also need an FDS hooked up to the Famicom?

>> No.2297263

OK, so tell me this: does the V3 Everdrive64 have any incompatibilities whatsoever with any NTSC-based commercial ROM? Can I just download any ROM, plop it in there, and go? No patches to fuss with, no anti-piracy bullshit to worry about?

>> No.2297290

>>2296881
i'm pretty sure it can

i was looking into getting a fami n8 to replace my nes n8, getting a pin converter and wiring it up to use expanded audio
