For some reason I just had the feeling that might not be a jump you could reach, so I tried Rush Coil and that happened, but going through the level again and getting there I just jumped and made it.

In general, I don't like the style of Rush Coil in this game and I don't like how it can fail like that. Though that's the only time in the playthrough that that happened.

I'm not sure why they changed it. The difference in height you can achieve with the original or the MM5 version is totally negligible.

MM5 is such a boring, half-assed entry in the series, though... does it really matter? If you want to play a Mega Man game with very little challenge, uninspired Robot Masters, and a lackluster set of weapons, just play MM6. At least it has an awesome soundtrack, interesting levels, and the really fun Rush suits.

Sucks about that glitch that killed you, though.

It has the best castle themes (both Proto and Wily), tied for the worst boss battle theme with MM4, and has really mediocre stage music. I'd say MM2, 3, and 4 have the best soundtracks in the series by far, with 4 a bit behind the others specifically because the boss music is lame.

This can be said about most of the stages in MM3. Terrible stage design all around. Lots of empty areas, places that require sliding for no reason other than remind you that you can slide, stage gimmicks that aren't explored beyond the bare minimum...

... but yeah, Shadow Man is pretty cool.

Can we just make this a favorite Robot Master thread?

Freeze Man's got style for miles. The way they worked ice into his design is cool. He's very challenging, requiring you to dodge attacks from the vertical and horizontal. It's hectic but rewarding to learn his patterns.
