Streets of Rage overall.
Final Fight arcade is solid, but it's got some weird shit about it, legitimate coin muncher shit (there's actual code in the game to make some runs significantly harder than others at random, unrelated to any rank system or whatever). It's still a great game, but Capcom had some weird-ass things going on with it.

FF2 and 3 don't compare to SOR. Capcom's made better beat-em-ups than SOR, but not FF games.

SOR3 US is hilariously bad though (but the Japanese version is solid and fun, why did Sega spend any time and effort on making a good game become shit?).

>> No.2275442

>>2275432
FF1 arcade is not that coin-muncher, the whole game is basically memorizing it, learning the basic mechanics and learning the most useful tricks. I like the hit-boxes/stun better on Final Fight overall. Something i don't like about SoR2 that Final Fight did better IMO, is the grab system and crowd control, overall SoR2's vault system feels unintuitive and gimmicky, while Final Fight was more fluid and focused on crowd control (combo+grab to reposition your enemies, splash attack with haggar to knock down and push your enemies the direction you want, fluid grab system to throw enemies the direction you want, reverse jump for when you are surrounded etc)

Both SoR2 and Final Fight arcade are really good games, but i slightly prefer FF Arcade for its overall controls.

Serious question? even when i consider the lack of co-op, no guy, slowdowns, no Industrial Area, shittier graphics/bakgrounds/sprites, worse resolution, half the animations, worse voices etc. RELATIVELY minor flaws, there is still some serious problems with the SNES Final Fight.

One of them is max 3 enemies on screen, which is awful for a beat 'em up, especially when the arcade had up to 10/11 enemies on screen, all the chaos is gone. Another BIG problem is that the level design and enemy placements is completely changed, it's not the same game at all, there is a lot more stopping points and the enemies don't appear when they were supposed to appear, for example the Poisons on your picture appear much earlier in that stage. Also, there is some serious shit on the programming, it just doesn't feel the same as the arcade, for example some of the enemies like Cage Andore or Abigail have invencibility when they stand up, however their invencility time is longer in the SNES version, when you knock them down you have to run like a bitch from them, there are also some noticeable different programming weirdness in the gameplay i don't remember well.

Ever thought that it might be for reasons other than gameplay and nostalgia fuel that people prefer SoR? I grew up with Final Fight and on a visual and atmospheric level I honestly like SoR more. Add up the likable characters, the music, the physics and the solid arcade-tier gameplay (something which was thought to be unachievable on a home console back in the days) and you have one of the finest beat 'em up franchises ever. Obviously it's not THE best franchise ever, but as you've said "for what it truly is", it is ONE of THE best franchises ever and a worthy competitor to the big arcade title essentials. except for SoR 3

Streets of Rage 3/Bare Knuckle 3 has a bunch of random shit playing in place of where music should go, no way is it the best game.

I'm not a big fan of BK/SoR3 either, but at least it has some actual challenge and variety, Final Fight 3 was just fucking boring to play, even on "Expert" difficulty it's piss easy.

Also it has your usual bullshit with Final Fight SNES games: tons of slowdowns, max 3 enemies on screen and low resolution.

Yay because having over 10 enemies attacking you at once is totally not specticle over gameplay.

final fight is fucking stupid because you have to exploit the game to play it "properly", only faggots are interested in 1ccing final fight jumping backwards across the whole level like some kinda fuckin fairy.

The problem with SoM in my opinion is that the combat is so bland, all the solid and strategic as fuck combat from Tower of Doom turned into a boring jugglefest. Still, it's fun, but it missed something.

Having 3 enemies on screen in a beat'em up is like having 3-5 enemies onscreen in a shootem up.

You just don't get it do you?

Stick with your Nintendo-developed games...

Yeah the combo system is kinda weird, but overall the controls feel a lot smoother than SoR2 imo, SoR2 is kinda sluggish for me. Your rate of fire in SoR2 is so shitty that i actually don't mind about the combo stuff in SoR3.

lotsa tiny differences in enemy placement, they removed the ash boss for being too gay and they buffed up blaze and skate

most importantly you take more damage from hits, but your special gauge charges faster and you lose less health if you do your special while on an empty gauge

Armored Warriors was nice, really liked the body part exchange gimmick, though Cyborg Justice already did it.

Cyberbots kicked ass though, and Jin Saotome was the best fighter in MvsC, sharing the position with Strider. Captain Commando being second.

This reminds me that I need to buy Cyberbots for my Saturn.
