What are some of the best retro games based on anime series? Pic related.

That's an amazing game.

Too bad the Zeta game on the Famicom isn't that fun.

MMPR Fighting Edition and Endless Duel are amazing games.

DBZ Super Butoden 2 is still my favorite DBZ game.

Are there any good gundam games that are my 2d fighters?

OP posted the best one, and the PS1 are slower, but enjoyable

The Hokuto no Ken game for PSX by Bandai/Natsume was a ton of fun, and was a fan's wet dream. It looked great for the time, had sounds/voices/music from the show, and neat details like the "Abeshi" comments when you killed certain guys.

Another one I have fond memories of was Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie for SFC.

>Thexder but with Gundam mechs instead

They should have just went with that all the way instead of having mainly monotonous rail shooting and leaving the 2D segment really half-assed.

Isn't it? There's a similar Urusei Yatsura game for Turbografx CD.

Makyo Toitsusen is better.

Seriously, OP, Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyo Toitsusen for the Mega Drive is one of the best fighting games on a 16 bit home console.

This was a pretty good Ninja Gaiden clone, albeit really easy.

As much as I like the Super butouden series, I think idainaru Dragon Ball densetsu (a.k.a. The Legend) is a better /vr/ DBZ game. I've only ever played the PS1 version, though.

Yeah, DBZ Legends is a good game, very interesting concept, but at the end of the day I still prefer Super Butoden 2, especially to play VS with a friend.

Mitsume ga tooru.

A Famicom classic, based on the famous Osamu Tezuka work.

Main character is Sharaku, those who have played Astro Boy on the GBA might know him.

Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie and Devil Hunter Yohko are fairly overlooked IMO.

This one is pretty neat if you're a fan of the series. If not, you probably won't get as much enjoyment out of it.

The megadrive one is an adventure game (plays like an RPG, except it doesn't have battles, it's more similar to point and click games in that regard).

There's another one for the Famicom which is a strategy turn based game.

And there's a couple more for japanese PCs and I think PC Engine too (probably they're all mostly VNs/interactive)
