a fun romp through a beautiful story book type world with terribly sad and poignant moments abound. a bunch of it involves beating up a lot of monster pinatas, and getting used to the weird (at the time) experimental play mechanics. It's fun and you don't really need to grind unless you feel like using all the different spells and weapons on all the characters, which is absolutely not ever necessary.

It is entirely possible to prevent your party members from ever getting caught on the scenery if you exercise even the slightest amount of patience and caution, understanding that the path-finding and AI isn't meant to account for you to deliberately be a jackass fighting against it the whole way and deliberately looking for ways that it will fuck up so you can complain on the internet.

A good multiplayer RPG with a memorable world, catchy soundtrack, a few intimidating areas, and decent diversity in weapons and spells. Spells level up with use and eventually change appearance. Hold on to your faerie walnuts for bosses, which can generally be spammed to death with magic.

So much complaints, I guess most who replied didn't play this when it came out.

Ignore the game system, it may be outdated (was innovative back then), enjoy the scenery and the story.

Use one weapon for each character and stay with it, leveling all of them is no point.

Thing I remember most was how expensive stuff was in the shops in this game. In the zombie dungeon I needed max number of MP potions to beat the boss and it cost me 3/4 of all my saved gold.

About the grinding, I don't remember any of this, it's ok to just play it as long as you don't run from enemies. Maybe you can stay and harvest some when you first get to Gaia's Navel but after that you'll be fine.

He's refering to the first village "Potos" as Potatos

You can actually buy a power wrist in most places, which are closer.

The dude is actually right, the negligble damage up from the power wrist is definitely offset by the greatly superior defense of other items since power wrist is a very early item.

In SoM you are basically locked to the same screen as your partner. And since the dude is determined to go back to Potos village, his partner is forced to go with him.

>> No.2276976

>>2269903

Stunlock.

And

>"TIPTIPTIPTIPTIPTIPTIPTIPTIP"

Oh and music cutting out for everything, because SoM can't have back ground music and sound effects at the same time.

It's a turd. Don't get me wrong, it's probably one of, if not the best Mana game. But it needed some sequels that really polished up the formula.

That being said, you may enjoy it. I do enjoy playing it from time to time. It has a pretty good OST. The weapon variety is really cool. It's a big adventure. You can travel by shooting yourself out of a cannon. And the graphics are kinda pretty. Sprites could have been done better.
