Which one is your favorite?

>> No.2247614

Never cared for Spyro. PSX really floundered in the 3D platformer department.

>> No.2247615

What is a Spyro and where can I buy one?

>> No.2247616

I enjoyed 2 the most.

>> No.2247617

Second one.

The third had skateboarding and shitty animal friends, which reminds me a little too much of Sonic.

>> No.2247625

They all suck.

Probably 3
But I've played 2 recently and it seems to be the better game objectively

>> No.2247857

>>2247605
the one with the flying through the clouds animation transition

>> No.2247986

I liked 2 but I never got finish 3. 3 had some nice levels.

>> No.2248018

The first for nosalgia. Year of the Dragon if seriously considering the best

>> No.2248512

Year of the Dragon is undeniably the best. Prove me wrong.

>> No.2248919

I liked 1 a lot, and 3 a whole lot too.

2 felt like a whole bunch of strangely designed levels with minigames everywhere.

>> No.2248968

3>second half of 1>2>first half of 1>Animal buddies and shitty mini games & skateboarding in 3
spyro 1 gets good after world 3 when you have supercharging and other good shit.World 1&2 are fucking boring.

>> No.2249304

Playing through Ripto's Rage feels surreal because of all the nostalgia.

>> No.2249316

It's really quite hard to choose because I have nostalgia for all 3 of them, but I gotta say 3 > 2 > 1.

I remember playing A Hero's Tail at a friend's house and thinking it was pretty much the best after-trilogy Spyro game. I also played Enter the Dragonfly and that one sucked total ass.

1 has best atmosphere, 2 might be the best

>annoying animal side kicks
>game interrupted by constant mini-games
>gimmicks such as skateboarding

>> No.2249325

>>2249324
I agree 3 had to many mini games and gimmicks but that skateboarding was cool as a kid
it was fleshed out and had multiple levels

Spyro The Dragon
>offers the most challenge of the trio
>complex soundtrack, the first work where Copeland really could experiment with his skills
>creative level structure

Spyro 2
>more balanced soundtrack, filled with athmospheric emotion
>gives you a more non-linear gaming experience
>more variation in the levels, but I must admit that the levels start to go out-of-place after Summer Forest
>good selection of mini-games that don't really break the flow of the game
>power-ups

Spyro 3
>this game just tries too much, it's a mess!

My favorite will always be Spyro 2. Even without nostalgia glasses it's a great game, but add the nostalgia-factor in the mix and the gameplay just feels surreal (escpeacially when entering the Summer Forest)!

my face when thinking about playing Spyro 3 and that endless amount of pointless mini-games.

Ripto's Rage, easily.
It was my least favorite as a kid but looking back its by far the best. It fixes a lot of the technical issues the first game suffered and there's a lot more variety to the missions. It sacrifices the atmosphere in some places but simply plays a lot better.

Year of the Dragon is a mess of awkward playable characters and minigames like skateboarding that take away from the core gameplay. It's a similar issue to Crash Bandicoot: Warped, which had the best platforming in the trilogy but drowned it all under shitty vehicle segments and gimmick levels that ruin the experience.

>spyro the dragon
>most challenge

Don't get me wrong, Tree Tops is one of the more challenging levels of the series, but on a whole, the first Spyro was the easy as fuck (Not that the sequels weren't either)

>> No.2249456

all three are good

spyro is objectively the least developed

spyro 2 is objectively the most polished and biggest improvement

spyro 3 is objectively the smallest improvement but still at the same level of spyro 2. people exaggerate the fuck out of how bad the animals sidekicks were. and the skateboarding was actually good

as for spyro 1 having the "best atmosphere", all three of the games have a very distinct spyro atmosphere unique to the games on a whole but different in each installment. spyro 1 definitely felt the most surreal, though so did all 3.

>Rented Spyro so many times as a kid that when 2 came out my parents went "oh no we're not doing this again" and bought it right away.

>> No.2250646

My favorite is 1. I played it so many times it's sickening. Does anyone have that file with all those Spyro skyboxes? Someone was dumping them on /v/ sometime last year and I lost them.

>> No.2250707

Has to be 1 for me, brings back memories.

1&2 because 3 was trying to be like 1 &2 which was a mess
