Awesome concept, good overall game. DAt soundtrack was sick especially on the first stage. Been waiting since '94 for a sequel. They could of done something really awesome with it on the Saturn or DC.

Great soundtrack and graphics, interesting level design/mechanics, mediocre combat.

I meant '95. Kinda hard 2 want a sequel to a game that wasn't even out yet.

boring ass game

Short but satisfying with a damn good aesthetic and rockin' soundtrack. Difficulty feels very unfair at times.

>> No.2245525

Looks beautiful and I want to like it, but the complete lack of continues, extra lives, or anything like that kinda sucks.

Doesn't help that stupid things deplete your health. You need to punch a door to break through to the other side but punching the door lowers your health? You end up with like a third of your health on a mandatory door

or hey, maybe I'm totally missing something

Yeah, items. You save explosives for environmental stuff, not bad dudes. Roadkill will hunt things down for you if they're hidden in each screen.

Am I the only one here that doesn't find it that hard? Sure, it takes some memorization when it comes to conserving your health, but I remember beating it on my third or fourth try back in the day, and it's a fairly short ride.

>Some of the jumps and encounters are borderline unfairly difficult

You have a shit load of hidden stuff to help you out with those. Once you learn item management and where to find hidden loot, the game becomes way easier.
Last 2 pages are still pretty damn difficult, but not any more than for any other game.

The concept was really cool, the art was absolutely killer, and the gameplay itself was amazing. The only problem I had was the difficulty. I could get pretty far in the game but I wasn't able to beat it until I got it for an emulator with save slots.

Use the rat everywhere and learn where the items are hidden.

For the combat, attack hard and fast whilst mixing up your moves. Generally rapidly hitting and swapping between high kicks, low kicks and punches will get you a knockdown on regular enemies. Throw in an occasional sweep kick on block happy enemies.

And for any veterens out there, you can skip the arena opening text by using a power fist item. There are even 2 fists to be collected in that level too.

Best track in the game IMO. Fast forward to 1:10 for a kickass progressive solo. I don't really remember any other Megadrive game having music solos THIS long in the game, most of them were just half-minute repeats.

I did not like the combat system. At all.

>Punching shit damages you, lol!

If that wasn't obnoxious enough they decided to make 'puzzles' that force the player to micro manage his health between clearing obstacles (Which damages you.) and clearing enemies.

Whoever thought of that was an asshole.

Years ago, someone posted a video in /v/ from some 80s movie with the usual american ninja/karate/kung-fu guy. It was the end of the movie and the main characters says "See ya" to the bad guy, and I swear that's the voice clip Sega used for the game. Anyone knows what movie I'm talking about?

There are actually people out there who think Comix Zone is boring? A game where you travel from comic panel to comic panel. Literally smashing guys through the fourth wall with a great range of attacks. Cool power ups, a fucking baller all pet rat.

It's short, but it's a hard fight to get through and with all the different routs you can take through the game and options for different special moves it's got tons of replay to it. There are really people out there who think this game is "BORING"? It takes all kinds to make this crazy world, but still. Wow!

Loved it. Loved the CD that came with it. Still have the CD in rotation on my MP3 player to this day.

Entire game was so deliciously 90's.

Love the details, like how you can rip the paper plane or how if you drop roadkill the chain whip ladies run away screaming so you don't have to fight them.
