Since it came out on the 3DS here today. Let's have a thread about this series

I'm guessing that in this game you're some kind of a force in the galaxy

If you play as a beast that has been altered in some fashion, the confusion has been taken up a notch

I wish the Sega 3D classics were part of the reward program in club nintendo.

Also Super Fantazy Zone is my favorite, I think.

So for anyone who got the 3DS one. What's with those $1000000 and $2000000 in the settings menu? Do I have to buy them by horidng the money I get from the stages, or is it automaticly unlocked when I reach that amount? And what does it unlock?

>> No.2231919

Fantasy Zone 2 on the SMS is glorious

>> No.2231940

Great arcade game with a great 3D port. I'm playing with two stars, three ships, JP version, no stage select, and I've just gotten up to halfway through (just beat Rd. 4's boss). La Dune is my arch-enemy.

>>2231881
So, once you get a Game Over, your coin score's added to storage for charging; the count won't drop to zero once you reach a settings milestone, that setting will automatically unlock and you can then work up from 1,000,000. The first milestone unlocks an option to extend weapon use time.

I remember playing the Master System port for a bit when I was a kid; I saw it on the 3DS shop yesterday, is it worth it without any real familiarity with the series?

The Mii Force StreetPass game is pretty obviously inspired by FZ. I wish they'd rolled some updates/sequels for the Plaza games with the release of the New 3DS. This will do nicely, though.

I'd just get 3D Fantasy Zone if it's been that long, since the new port comes with QoL features and is arcade-perfect. Also, the credits sequence for Opa-Opa Brothers is awesome, reminds me of Senko no Ronde at points.

Mii Force was done by Good Feel which use to be Konami's Kobe division, the crew worked with Konami Osaka & Tokyo during the last few years at Konami after they shut down Konami Kobe in 2002 doing a number of Igavainias, Elebits and Goemon DS.

Konami Kobe was the unit that did most of the Twinbee, Parodius (proto-Treasure did the MSX one) & Goemon games and Mii Force is base around Twinbee, that ship sure looks like Opa Opa in that shot however.

This game looks extremely similar to 3-D world runner for NES. Any chance it's made by the same people? (I know I could look this up, but figured it be more fun to make it a discussion)

Game Over text color's only difference I can tell right now, will have to play it for checking balance. These are the Old versions, whereas the New versions (much rarer) allow continues.

I love Fantasy Zone series. I still don't understand why they cancelled Space Fantasy Zone for PC Engine. An epic combination of Space Harrier (also from my favourite retro games) and Fantasy Zone.

Interesting. Another reason to buy StreetPass Squad. At least when I finish all routes at StreetPass Quest II (bought 3DS on March 2014).

For the record, I'm certain one-star-three-ships is the arcade setting, as I tampered with stars last night and found they mainly affect bullet patterns.

Fantasy zone 2 for th Master System was the best imo. Excellent gameplay and graphics. Also dat music.

I misread the 3D FZII site details and thought FZII SMS was in the release, what a shame. The game's more fragmented than others in the series, for better or worse, and having a 3D version of it could have been cool.

The designer behind Opa-Opa Brothers, Koga, was the design lead on II DX as well. Can't wait to play that one in a couple of months.

Fantasy Zone was my first introduction to cute em ups. I guess there weren't many before it anyway. I thought it was gay as fuck but a friend convinced me to play. The game play was good and I liked it. Personally it was a major step in learning to appreciate some of the weird ass shit the Japanese come up with.

>> No.2239059

I bought this thinking it had FZII. The "Opa-Opa Bros." threw me off. But no, that's a separate release later.

FZI isn't bad or anything, but it's not the cool one. Guess I'm building the collection either way.

I saw it in regular. I'm not sure if they show up in Upa-Upa too, but I did unlock an options that lets me control whether or not they can show up although it doesn't guarantee it from what I tried afterwards.

Probably not unless the games have been doing particularly well on the eShop. Other than the two Master System games, it doesn't seem to have anything else new. It even seems to be a bit more expensive than buying the six games separately. I'm a bit puzzled by the Nintendo Network symbol on the box though.
