What's the difference between the V-Saturn and Hi-Saturn from the regular Sega models?

Straight from the wikipedia article on the Saturn:
"Two models were released by third parties: Hitachi released a model known as the "Hi-Saturn" (a smaller Saturn model equipped with a car navigation function),[144] while JVC released the "V-Saturn""

While I understand the just Google it mentality, some of this board is to just shoot the shit about old videogame stuff, get new perspectives, get and give people a chance to talk about stuff they have experienced and know about firsthand, even if their knowledge or even opinions might not differ much from what's already out there.

Nothing worth worrying yourself over if you just wanna play Saturn games. V-Saturn and Hi-Saturn have mpeg decompression built in which makes fmv scenes look better in some games. They have different startup screens but who cares about that? I think they also play VCDs but who has VCDs?

How many licensed variations of game consoles were made? I can think of the Sharp Twin Famicom and their TV sets with built-in Nintendo consoles, the JVC WonderMega/X'Eye, all the 3DO consoles (since the 3DO company simply licensed the technology to hardware manufacturers) and that Panasonic Q thing that played DVDs and GameCube discs.

eva and trigun are the ones i remember. i'll never forget opening trigun. i couldn't wait to get home and opened the package in the car on the way home from the post office.

when i got out of the car the box fell off my lap and broke one of the vcds.

then i slowly realized that vcds were just the same as the rips online i could download

Neither Saturns had mpeg decompression built-in. Hi-saturns were just bundled with an mpeg card. V-Saturns weren't, but JVC sold mpeg cards on their own.

The only Hi-Saturn with car navigation was the Hi-Saturn NAVI, which goes for 2500€ on ebay for a LOOSE UNIT.
