Is the PS1 port of Diablo good?
I dont remember much. I just remember it taking up a shit ton of blocks

I played it on PSP a while back and found it pretty slow and clunky, though that may have been to do with emulation or me being a millenial asswipe who can't stand loading screens/times.

It's got everything the PC version has except Hellfire and multiplayer. The only thing is that the PC version is better, and I believe has some efforts in making them playable for newer computers. Generally speaking, if you want your random dungeons and whatnot the PS1 has plenty of exclusive roguelikes. I'd look at these first.

Too bad Blizzard won't sell Diablo 1 to you no matter what.

It's also far more challenging than the original.

- Mobs have increased damage and are much harder to kill.
- Co-op friendly fire that you can't disable.
- Some bullshit item affixes toned down / completely removed.

It's playable, but do not bother hunting Unique equipment because there's a bug that deletes any Unique items when you save and quit. This doesn't matter much though because the best kit is all Magical stuff like Obs/Zod and Drag/Wiz and King/Speed(+) anyway.

You ain't jokin. Lost count of the number of times I died because my friend accidentally nailed me with a lvl20+ level fireball while targeting a mob.

Playing it on the same screen as a friend is the only way to enjoy it more than the PC version.

I like it because you can turn on Fast speed, which really helps getting around town. It makes the dungeons slightly faster too, though not as quick as towns.

Aiming spells is kind of a pain in the ass, but not undoable. Rogue and Warrior are fun and easy enough to play, though.

It's also nice to be able to pack your entire inventory with potions and just slam them one after another with the shoulder buttons. Having to go back to town all the time to restock sucks because of the loading times others have mentioned.

Also couch co-op is rad in principle.

And yeah, being a Warrior playing with a Sorcerer friend is the fucking worst. Warrior can only play with other Warriors, if you don't want to be killed by friendly fire.

What? Come on, that's why there are group tactics.

Don't stand in doorways, stand adjacent to them and set a firewall into it so that the monsters have to walk through it only to get clobbered by the warrior off to one side and take either lightning or fire-bolts to the face along with arrows or whatever else. This is common sense, and why I always hated playing with pubbies: they don't have it.

There's some other dungeon crawlers and ARPGs you might like too, like King's Field or Star Ocean 2.

Diablo runs fine on Windows 7. I booted it up the other day. It also looked great, aside from the characters being fat because it isn't supposed to be widescreen.

You have to set your desktop to solid black or the colors fuck up, though.


I quit after fighting the Skeleton King for over 30 minutes.
